face masks

Phew, reading the start of your post I thought you were going to insist we wear them

As all who know me will confirm I am far to ansome to hide behind a mask,

hiding behind a big strong soldat is of course quite differant and acceptable

Now, in all safety briefs we have to reccomend wearing full face masks, So I am recomending you do.

However if you do wish to follow ur recomendation and wear a face mask, then please consider booking onto another game.

I agree I also hate them unless they look like a real face as I know a few have done.
If someone who makes them wants to go into busines it would be a good idea.

there was a chap wearing one at oddballs last game didnt realise until he was standing next to me. They can look pretty good if done well!

Yes, at Patton Stalled where there was more than one person with them on is not only disturbing but confusing. Dam tricky to hear what they are saying too!

Here's an idea - rather than blank 'clone' faces they should be painted to look like the wearer underneath and would thus be chummier, instead of having the appearance of actors from a weird episode of Doctor Who.

At Dirty Dozen there were a number of masks and I know why CQB tends to make people want more protection.
I agree CW they need to be custom also, I did start to play with making one ages back but gave up and just stuck it on the hanging dummy used in Anarchy.
Mine was to have a moustache and small beard for some reason

Personally I find that my face has always healed from bb shots. The only things that won't are eyes and teeth... so I wear eye protection and a gum shield...

Actually I think they have no place in this specific hobby,. In an airsoft game, yes, but we are not playing an airsoft game. In fact this airsoftiness is creeping in everywhere and rather getting on my goat. We use less ammo, and use it more responsibly. Plus the 'orrible things are not even needed at an open day.

I must say I'm rarely shot in the face at WW2 games and if I am it is from a distance or if close at low power. I can't remember the last time I had a 'bleeder' (stingers certainly). BUT I have seen many who have and I'd be willing to bet someone at every game I've ever been to. Given that site insurance/rules require people to wear face protection it wouldn't be possible to ban them as such, but Craig has taken the sensible option here in saying this is a game for those whose preference is not to wear face masks. It is a bold one and another 'first' for this game and, for what it's worth, I support the approach.

Airsoft is airsoft, just because it's a WW2 event doesn't me it's not airsoft

I'm not going to this event and would hate it if all organizers went down this route as I wouldn't be able to go to an event ever

JD, try a gum shield

Personally I use a double-gum shield from from decathlon.

Slips into a pocket nicely and goes into mouth when I think I have a risk of being hit in the face.

So far has worked wonderfully and I've been using it for about 4 years, maybe more.

Personally I do feel that most face masks spoil the look of WW2 games only a few that I have seen blend in wellenough not to spoil the look, although it is weird when they speak to you and the lips dont move! below is an example of a face mask that I think is fine for those that feel the need and does not spoil the look for others.

However Wladek has expressed a preference for his games and that should be respected.

I have probably had bleeders at about a third of the games Ive attended but as a user of a gas rifle myself just accept that this sometimes happens and they heal soon enough.

As Yith points out though with eye protection and a gum sheild you are pretty much covered against anything more than a bruised face.

Don't finish your post with 'just my 2 pence', if you have an opinion have the conviction to state it without the shrug shouldered apology that applies.

My 'much more then two pence worth': teeth are fine as gun shields are allowed; it does in fact spoil the look a lot; if you think 'airsoft is airsoft' then this game/event is, obviously, not really for you anyway; and there is no fear of all organisers going down this route at all - I am little more then a minor fringe of eccentricity.

I could contribute an essay on how wearing a face-mask not just protects from, but encourages a certain 'style of play' that should not be encouraged, but this thread is for information for those who are going, or considering going, really, and as such another, more general, area of the forum may be more suited if you wish to debate the merits of the things.

So just to clear things up Are Players Banned from this game wearing full face or half face or mesh glasses for protection?

Mesh goggles are fine, but we would prefer no face masks please.

The reason they are not 'banned' is that I don't like to 'change the rules' after people have booked on, as it is not fair to people.

But we would prefer it if you people would not wear them.

If this makes anyone feel uncomfortable, then I would be happy to refund them, but from the look of the list that has booked on we should have no problem.
