Just seen this photo I think it's a normal smock but could be an FJ smock.

Looks to me like SS palm

There are some very good photos on this site, just spent the last hour going through just the FJ ones.

Yup, thats a Palm pattern SS smock. Not the first time i've seen FJ wearing SS smocks either. There are some pics of them at Monte Cassino wearin some real odd combo's of kit.

Example:

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

That looks like the plane tree and the fella behind has some sort of italian camo smock/jacket

Oh Pweety please.
No, a new splinter jump smock from underwoods/spearhead before I get my samurai vest.
Then that's it for kit for a while.

hello all.
I'm not an expert but just wanted to pass on an observation/comment . My dad served in an SS antiaircraft unit from '43 till ' 45 . In that time he told me that it took nearly 16 months before the italian items of kit he had where replaced ( He had volunteered from an italian NCO'S training centre). from conversations he pointed out that the state of supply and kit issue was parlous at best. It was very rare to have all the kit you should have in theory, let alone expect it to match the others in the unit.

( in fact he thinks i have too much kit!)

cheers

il duce

Cheers il duce, this is the kind of thing I like to here about, my personal take on it is that the guys in the front line would use what they could get hold of and if it meant captured stuff then so be it, your Dad sounds like a sensible guy why carry stuff you don't need to  , I like the german soldiers philosophy of only take into the field what is needed, gun, ammo and water.
