Here (Heer?) is a photo I thought might be of some interest to some of you.It was recently unearthed amongst the wifes' grandfathers' photos. It is of a group of prisoners taken during WW2 in France, unfortunately I don't have a date or exact location.I thought that they were Fallschirmjager but now that the pic has been downloaded and blown up it looks like they may be Luftwaffe Field Division.
It was taken by Private Thomas Moore who was batman to Major (temporary) John D'Henin Hamilton of the Coldstream Guards and appears to contain a couple of officers and a couple of medics, all apparently in full kit ,but minus weapons.
Any thoughts Gentlemen ?

Heh, they look quite happy and content with their present situation!

Nice. They look for all the world like a bunch of reenactors - vastly different sizes, full loads of kit, shiny boots and specs! ![]()

That is exactly what I thought, Chommers!
It's very difficult to distinguish between late war FJ and LWFD, but I would tend towards the latter. Interesting to note the use of bright shiny officers s/boards on a camo uniform. The guy on the left is also a medic, I'd surmise - he appears to have the medic's pouches.

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Look like Field Division to me.
I agree with the re-enactor idea. had typed that but you all beat me....

Thanks for the photo Sandy, lots of reference material even in one photo.
Nice to see that not all are wearing marching boots either

A good lesson for all there. How easy it is to compromise your camo with a little thing like shoulder boards.

Heh, it didn't bother that lot, and they had done the courses - I'd guess they are not a front line fighting mob but have been scooped up from the rear, much to their obvious relief!

Wrong sized helmets, gas mask tins slung over the wrong shoulders, shoulderboards on Tarnjacken, very un-soldierly demeanour all round and not a decoration amongst them - blimmin' Farbs.
These guys need to get a grip. They are sullying the memory of those who served.

What does the chap second left have over his left chest? Looks like a 6 cell MP40 pouch but shorter?

gas cape, looks like it's been wrapped around his Gas mask can. Also against regulation.
Half of them dont have gasmask cans. The straps are for the extra 'medic' water bottle inc the shorter officer from what I can see.
