Blimey, this is my first event in a while, and I'm getting all frothy already. I'll be wearing my Heer Pionier wools, and low boots, and probably packing an MP44 (on single shot, of course). 8)

Ditto! although not sure what weapon to go for, K98, MP40, MP44 or MG42  Will probably bring them all and decide on the day!

I will join the pioniers,if allowed. I will sort my a-frame till then. I dont have choice of weapons as i only have a MP40. I would be happy to sign up for gunner 2 on an MG42, if needed.
I thought about building some "geballte Ladung" granades. Was surely something the pioniers would have in their pockets :D
But dont worry it will be the base airsoft potato masher with some toilet roll add-ons. :giggle:

It's basically standard infantry kit with Black Waffenfarbe.

Collat tabs can have black waffenfarbe but the generic tabs are pretty common and allow you to use a tunic for any branch with just a change of shoulderboards.

Field gear is also as per standard infantry, the pionier side pouches and backpack were not issue kit but were given out on an operational basis and only a few members of a zug would have them. They are very useful for airsoft though and can hold quite a bit of gear.

Other pionier specific items were the saw, Axe/hammer, Long or short Wire cutters, pionier shovels and a leather tool pouch for fuses etc.
Lots of good pics and info here: [link]http://mp44.nl/equipment.htm[/link]

Aah, so we have decided upon the grizzled shovel wielding men of applied science; the pioniers! Would anyone who is planning on ordering a set of pioneer shoulder boards be able to do me a favour and order me a set as well? I don't actually have a fixed address I can have kit delivered to at present so I can't order my own right now :| . I'd send payment to whoever before the order is placed, it's just that colouring in my infanterie waffenfarbe with a felt-tip pen might look a bit naff.

I've fired a bullet on every continent. Nearly hit someone, too.

Colouring regular infantry boards with a black laundry marker pen works great, I've done a few sets like that and you wouldn't know the difference! :good:

I'll be in my Heer wools, probably my greatcoat if its cold enough. I don't have pioneer waffenfarbe but I am tempted. I'm considering using my M1 carbine just because of those famous BotB photos.

Come on, Lardy - 7 quid won't break the bank. :raspberry: Once you try black, you'll never go back... ahem...

If it were in mid-winter, greatcoat would be essential wear. I'll bring mine if we have a cold snap.

I'll wear mine too if it is cold enough, like at the last Bulge game. It really wasn't too bad, although it was quite a cold day.

Cheers

Bugger, does that mean I need black Waffenfarbe for my greatcoat too?

I'm planning on just bringing rifles to this, my G43 and K98. I'll leave the MP40 at home.

Cheers
Martin

If you are wearing the greatcoat then you can just use the shoulderboards from your tunic as they wont be seen!

If it's cold enough I'll wear mine too. It will need to be cold though.

So who's gonna be the squad CO?

So who's gonna be the squad CO?

Surely with mission directed tactics we don't need a commander :)

I am sure Josh will pick one, I've done enough commanding recently.

Cheers
Martin

 Me too Martin. But, if we are going to try some squad tactics then we do need a squad structure, Squad leader, 2IC etc.

Happy to do sub section leader.

What is the structure overall? I asked the question before. Reading the Wehrmacht training manual, they worked with 10 guys per Gruppe. One machine gun group of 3, 5 Schuetzen, gruppen leader and sub group leader.
