Or a US invasion to liberate the british isles?
Nice thinking Keeps the game inclusive

but, don't forget that the Americans would have to be late arrivals!
"Will you stop talking about the war!!"
"What, you started it!"
"We did NOT start it!"
"Yes you did, you invaded Poland..."
If you watch 'It happened here'. the story does include the landing of US troops in an effort to liberate the UK.

Possibly a bit too far fetched, though. Where would they invade from? ROI was neutral and even if they did decide to side with the US, as soon as Germany had a sniff that something was up there it would have been invaded so as to protect the Western flank.
From my recollection they were using the US 7th fleet. The film describes that the war was dragging on in the east and most regular troops had been transferred leaving the garrison comsiting of second line and 'volunteer' British SS etc.

But then again if we think about relaities such as that, we wouldn't need liberating! The Nazi Hordes wouldn't have got past Kent if they had invaded! (the army had some war games to find out)

I like the idea of a home guard look, but as the guys said, after Sealion, what other scenario could you use HG for?
Ooh, I dunno. I like the idea of WW2 themed, Robert Harris style what-if-the-krauts-had-won fantasy scenarios. Anyone up for a Londongrad game?

How about "The Siege Of Leighton Buzzard"

Well we thought given the hostility to the concept of a Spanish Civil War game as it 'wasnt wwii' a VBCW game woudl be less popular.
Personally I'd love it but its an incredibly niche interest.
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
well I'm up for it - it may be a bit more inclusive for newer people without allied kit given they can be brit reistance or tommies who have lost kit etc and nicked an MP40.

I am suprised at how few people turned up at sealion in Civis.
Considering the core of my workmans overalls get up possibly cost about £50 (not counting boots and gun)and came from high street sources. While not re-enactor standard, this isn't re-enactment
Resistance (French or other) either all civis or civis with millitary stuff mixed in is cheap and easier to do than a full load out and great for a starter.
To the tune of "Mademoiselle from Armentières"
Napoleons army ran away, As you do
The guard stood firm for Frances Pride, As you do
They said the guard will stand and die
But we heard what their Colonel cried
It wasn't pretty I tell you.
Resistance is fertile
i think you need to be carefull,,,,, this is fast heading towards SISK territory.
Wot's a SISK again?
I'm a hero with coward's legs.
SISK = Skirmish In Silly Kit. Sometimes applied to WW2 themed games which have no basis in actual events and allow Brit, German, Russian, Yank, Uncle Tom Cobbley 'n' all. It's the flipside to the benefits of running an "inclusive" game.
The biggest problem with a SCW game is that it requires people to get more kit together, whereas this kind of VBCW game is specifically designed to let people wear what they bought for Op Sealion.
Personally I rate a solid game plan, well thought-out objectives and a good group of players to be far more important than historical accuracy.
one of the biggest parts for me, is the oft quoted " in the zone"... i cant really get in the zone without a bit of uniformity. immersion is the thing. and that spell is broken for me by someone dressed like albert steptoe toteing a L96. for me , thats just not WW2. sorry.

The L96 would bother me. Albert Steptoe not so much.
There's no reason why you can't have uniformity, accurate impressions and attention to detail in a fantasy scenario. The grim truth is that the "purist" flavour of WW2 airsoft only seems to have a core player base of about 60 people across all of England & Wales. Op Sealion showed that lots of open day players were receptive to the idea of a WW2 scenario. Inclusive games are a good way to get new people bitten by the bug - and this hobby NEEDS new people.
Yep, everyone knows that Albert Steptoe fought in the FIRST World War! That would ruin everything for me and, force me to commit suicide due to the trauma.
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

Sorry guys i'm about to have a moan.
Did anyone watch the new ITV drama 'Joe Maddison's War'?
As an airsofter and re-enactor of Home Guard i was quite shocked.
They repeated the mistakes made by Dad's army by using Binouclar cases instead of the real BAR pouches.
The were wearing Battledress.
The all had SMLE's in 1940. (They would have been given back to the real army after Dunkirk
And well they didn't ahve any gaiters!
No young volunteers as well!
Anyway thats the moan out the way.
Man is too clever to survive without wisdom
Battledress isn't necessarily wrong ,I have a photo of my grandfather taken in 1940 and he is wearing 37 pattern or rather Battledress Serge,in the Aberdeen Home Guard.as for gaiters "Joe Maddison" appeared to be wearing black leather ones, which could be right ,certainly some units in London and Devon wore black ones.
But granted the bino cases were definately wrong, they appeared to be wearing a mix of 37 pattern webbing belts and 39 pattern leather ones too,and if you want to be really picky the shoulder straps should have been one piece ones, but at least they were SMLE's and not No.4's( and by the way I fixed the one you borrowed - it was a broken bb jamming the action)
I enjoyed it anyway even if some of the kit was a bit questionable.
