as you know sandy, HG has been put forward as a future PBI re-enacting impression , as its much more relevent to our average age(s). but for airsoft....... i just think its pointless, seeing how ww2 airsoft is crying out for more british line infantry soldiers.
Indeed.. in a year or two we'll have to retire the airborne look for re-enacting and move towards TA and HG!

yep, stop the hunt for leather anklets and airsoft P14's, and get a set of 49th div polar bears. lets get some line infantry stuff done.

There isn't a problem with SISK Fremsley - despite what you read on this thread and elsewhere people are very happy to play at games that abound with inaccurate kit or have far fetched scenarios (even the naysayers above). The issue surely is organising a game for which people don't already have kit. To do a unformed HG properly will cost money that might be better spent on buying kit that has more universal use and will get more wear out of it. Hell, to do civvy costs money to do properly (or even improperly). Even the last game Op Sealion that specifically had the need for HG wasn't packed out with 'em. OK, you could have LDV in civvies as a basis for a scenario but everyone who is into WW2 airsoft already has a uniform of some sort. Wouldn't it be better to build a scenario (SISK or non-SISK, fantasy or historical) around what kit people already have?

Dont be disappointed Fremsly you crack on mate..Whether folk have the right kit or not for a game dont seem to matter.. its all down to will there be enough intrest and will people book on.Take this weekends event US Airborne British Airborne and what do you see unbooked empty places..Now this event was built around them because of how many folk have the RIGHT KIT..was there a rush to book on no.!!! Building games around players and what kit they have..does it pay off..well no not all the time.

Fremsley,don't get me wrong ,I have nothing against more HG games and I do have a full Home Guard loadout which I would be more than happy to get more use out of ,I just think it is a bit limited in realistic scenarios and for anyone kitting out in british gear their money would be better spent on an infantry impression which they would get much more use out of, and as has been said already ,basic brit infantry is virtually the same kit.That having been said ,if another HG game comes up I will almost certainly be there.

Out of interest has anyone ever *seen* a set of HG BAR pouches for sale?
In twenty years of collecting militaria and 10 years of re-enacting with British kit I've never seen a pair let alone a pair for sale.

For some of us Simon ,this is the "something else" ,having given up competitive road racing and enduro riding 'cos I am no longer young or fit enough, competitive shooting/game shooting because it became boring ,and deep wreck diving / exploration for health reasons I like something that involves at least some of the level of research that was involved in planning exploratory dives, and always having been fascinated with the WW2 wrecks and the details that we unearthed researching them this became an interesting hobby that combined some of my interests .And although the satisfaction of a good shot isn't quite the same as dropping a good stag at 500 metres I get to fire more than 2 shots a year.Though I do wish I was still young enough to carry them back down the hills.

I had a fascinating day at Tottington Manor in West Sussex on Saturday with talks from Bill King and Stuart Angell about the Sussex Auxilliary Units and their work during the war years. The day was hosted by the guys from Coleshill House, http://www.coleshillhouse.com/
and the highlight was to meet and shake the hand of Capt. Ian Benson who commanded the Auxilliary Units in Sussex, a very humbling experience.
They told us how hard it was to research such a secretive group that was formed in the shadows of MI6 and MI9 and the fact that so many who served had now passed on and taken their secrets with them. After the threat of invasion was over these troops kept up and maintained their vigil for another four years untill they were officially disbanded in 1944.
There were also demonstrations of the types of tactics and booby traps that they were trained in. There was a a virtual tour of the underground chamber that is under the manor house, and details of the OB's that were set up all across the country.
To sum up a great day and the website is well worth a visit.
