Much to my own disgust (and i'm sure i'll be reported to the Feldgendarmerie for this) i've found a cracking site on Brit Para's at Arnhem, and thought it might be useful for Brit WW2 airsofters. Anyway, enjoy! (some bloody good pics on there) Interesting section on the Dutch resistance organisations hidden amongst it as well.

Just had a quick look - 2 things I'd not seen before: bayonets on Stens and a WW2 Brit with a leg holster!

Yup the sten has a bayonet attachment the same as the lee enfield no4. It takes the same bayonet. Unfortunately my airsoft one has the attachment lugs moulded on, but the barrel is too large to take a bayonet... oh well.

I can't get to the site to check the pics for sure as it seems to be offline. If they're the same ones the drop leg holsters were designed for use by tank crew. They have an open top, with a single strap over them and a set of loops on the outside for spare shells.

The idea was to make them more comfortable to wear when sitting. Unfortunately they actually managed to get snagged on things inside the tanks when moving around. As a result in later versions the leg strap was shorted and they ended up on the hip rather than on the thigh.
