Actually for the eagle you have used in the mockups, the right chest is the correct position, since it's not a Waffen SS eagle.
Dude, i sent you no end of websites that would have shown you this....

Hi Lewis
Definitely right hand side if you're Army Panzer - which I think you are aren't you - the SS wore their eagles on their left upper arm, and it was a different pattern - ![]()

Hi Lewis
Forgive me if I'm telling you something you already know here, but if you sew it on right the lapel shouldn't cover it too much - most of the black backing material needs to be folded under and then sewn down so all you see is the eagle - ![]()

If the link works you should see a piccy of my GD m43 tunic. The eagle, like yours, came with an excess of green backing material around it. It needs to be folded over at the top and in at the sides to form a roughly triangular shape before sewing it down -

Hope that helps
Its worth folding then ironing it.
Not too hot thought as some insgnia metts
again a good guide to it at:

yup thats how I did the badge on my gd loadout as its a trapeziod one
tucked it under, ironed it then understitched it (am sure your nan will know what I mean
)

Just wanted to ask why you have the yellow shoulder boards mate?
If I have my tunic as the outside layer I will always badge as a Panzer Grenadier, as the lime green piping is quite tactical, the Recce yellow isnt that covert.
I would recamend getting either a smock or different colour Shoulder boards. On a similar note, the GD Boards are great but the gothic lettering might give away your position, so as I said I use either a smock or normal 'boards.
THIS IS A TACTICAL TIP, AND NOT STITCH COUNTING

I guess Rich just wanted to do it right as GD Recce.
Tactical or not its what they wore isnt it.
Personally i think its little touches like that that make it a good look.

Understood - you probably won't have as much sewing to do then, or your nana won't, bless her - ![]()

Thanks Gadge for the encouraging comments - yes, that is indeed why I did it. On a tactical note, I've also got a pair of Feldwebel boards, with white infantry piping and cyphers, which are, arguably, even more blingy and likely to give me away - but hey, running around in the Rhody bushes at my local site in that get up, I'm hardly inconspicuous at the best of times - ![]()
