Tell the truth it's cold and you just want it to go to the shops in
Yes got to admit they do look good in that photo.
What price did you pay and where if you don't mind me asking?

Free speech is expensive these days!

erm..actually...er...its for walking the dog ![]()
i've ordered mine from epic militaria
http://www.epicmilitaria.com/product.ph ... -greatcoat
I have 4 greatcoats and think they're great coats.
:rofl
I use an East German one for walking the dog, have 2 Russian Shinels- one EM & one officers(ish) plus my M40 I bought before Autumn mist.
I think the the great coat look is a classic. They look smart enough for socialising but aren't too warm to stop you playing in them, unlike winter parkas. They can be a little cumbersome but I can live with that. They also have the advantage of allowing you to portray just about any unit you want justy by changing the shoulderboards as they mostly lacked any other insignia.
Yep, I've got an M36 from Suesue - I think I'm correct in saying it's a Sturm one, like Epic sell.

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Oh, yes I have - D-Day+2 and Hurtgen (mine is the Sturm M36)

I've got a M36 as well and Its a great bit of kit. Looks amazing with the rest of the kit. A recommended purchase.

do any of you guys wear them in-game. been looking through some of the pics of older games and cant see anyone wearing them.
I haven't yet - would consider it if it was really cold.

I brought an East German post war jobbie from Sue Sue (eventually) but now kind of regret saving the money. It was £35 and I'm prepared to get that wet or run through brambles with it. However now that I've seen pics of the guys in the £90 ones, well maybe next winter. Here's my logic, why spend nearly a ton on a bit of kit you'll only use a couple of times a year? Answer, cos they look the dogs danglers! I'm keeping the Sue Sue coat for this year and will invest in a new repro next autumn

Heh, I had a thread about this when I got mine. The opinion was that there is no regulation - wear it as you want it fitting. The unbound hem can be hemmed if you choose (or just hack it off at it gets tatty!)
I'd like you to the thread but I'm re-indexing the search data at the moment.

Digging up an old topic, but couldnt find an answer! Was there a 'usual' insignia or greatcoats? It seems a solitary sleeve eagle was all was really worn? Anyone help?

I'd just go with appropriate shoulderboard and leave it at than. Then you can use it for both Heer and SS impressions
“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942
"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."
Joseph Stalin, November 1942

Good idea, thanks Boshman
Neil and me at Op Lightning. I recall it getting very sweaty very quickly
I also love the greatcoat and zelt combo. Looks more rockhard than any namby pamby camo smock
I got my great coat from the angels sale around 3 years ago for £20, wish I'd have bought a few now

I will just re-use this thread;
For the ones who bought a greatcoat of Spearhead; does your greatcoat (Heer or Luftwaffe) has a hem on the lower edge / border?
(I am not sure if translated right, but maybe this pictures explains it better)
Heh, this was a question I asked on the reenactor's forum when I got mine a few years ago.
I also asked for regulations of height above the ground. There seem to be none!
So, you can either hem the coat yourself to a height that suits your leg length or just leave it as it is.
Mine is still un-hemmed and it hasn't frayed - and I guess in time when the edge becomes worn out and tatty I can just cut off half an inch and have a neat coat again!

Ah, good to hear: I thought it was 'missed' before it was sent to me. But it seems to be 'default'. I will just leave it as is and will hem it when really needed (because of fraying).
