Soldaten! Pull up a Zeltbahn and let's have a chat. The formation of Kampfgruppe SS has made me realise that we also need a group for those representing the Heer (i.e. the Army).
The group will be what we make it, as loose or as structured as we want it to be, but primarily a place to feel an identity together. So.... firstly, we need a name. CW and I have been sharing ideas, but if you portray a Heer soldier (or want to), then make your voice heard by posting your ideas here - please don't take this thread off on a tangent..... there's plenty of time for that later!
Current ideas are:
Das Heer
Der Soldat
Landser
Soldaten
Infanteriebataillon
Sturmtruppen
etc. If anyone can come up with something brilliant, I'll give you a tin of Shoka-Kola!
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Heh, you left off Feldgrau und Leden.

OK I'll try asking a question instead.
Whose going to be incharge of this group ?
In as much as we need someone "in charge", it will be me. (Unless anyone else has a burning ambition to do so.)
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Kampfgruppe Steiner...
Alte Kameraden....
Stahlhelm....
??
Kampfgruppe Steiner...
Well, obviously I like that one...! But it's not all about me - honest!
Plus the SS have already used Kampfgruppe, so we want to be different.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Keep it up, nothing like a bit of brainstorming!
The problem I've found is that German is so 'wordy' that it's difficult to find (or make up) something punchy and snappy. There seem too few words particularly pertaining to the German Army too.
Punning seems troublesome (tried working around 'Heer') so it looks like it may have to be factual or silly!
However, I quite like 'Letzte Runde' as it has connotations of fighting to the last round or alternatively a drinking association!
Or, how about 'Beetle Crushers'?
The obvious choice would be to do GD as 90 per cent of guys with heer loadouts have GD ones.
Mainly as yo get the cuff band free with spearheads kit.
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
I did think of that Gadge, but I'm wondering whether we can be more inclusive - dunno whether the Fallschirm might want to join us as well.
That said, we do have a good few GrossDeutschland!
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
then its not going to be a heer group if you do that, as obviously FJ are LW not erm heer, you'd need an inclusive name
If the falshys want to do something then fine, otherwise an inclusive group will be fine. Really don't want to factionalise if at all possible. It's really a non-SS group. No swapping cuff titles malarky, indeed no cuff titles would be great!
