Hey guys,

Just picked up an original MP40 sling, and i was wondering can anyone show me how to properly sling it. I understand that it has to be done on the ejection port side...and that the buttoned end goes at the rear. The button is set to the middle of the 3 holes making it impossible to fold the edge over...Can anyone give me any tips at all?

Just dont wanna end up wrecking the sling in the process.

Thanks GUys

You can put the sling on however you want, some have found it easier to put the `button` end on the front. You can even swop the front mount over to non ejection side if it suits you. Period pics can be found which show troops using different mounting methods so although there may be a `correct` way of fitting the sling, it would seem that once in the field individual troops used there own preferred method....as long as it works use it :)

A thing to look out for is the front sling ring!

On the ACM Mp40’s they are the wrong way round. They must be facing ‘Away’ from the shell ejection port. I had to swap mine round. Just thought I would let you know. :D

Hang on! (x) of you, (y) of me, dont mind playing Airsoft, I make that Pimms O’clock

Seeing as how they don't really eject shells it's probably more personal choice / comfort which way you want the weapon to hang. I also had a battle getting the sling onto my MP40 - either the strap is too thick or the rings are too small.

Yup, I had to file out the slot at the back to get a sling through (and heavily oiled the strap too which helped).

I have my sling to the left as I can then have the gun slung on my right shoulder and tucked under my arm. With the stock closed and with hand on the pistol grip I can raise it to chest height and fire (Clint Eastwood style  )or continue up to eye line and fire. By putting the strap under tension there is no need to use the stock or even the left hand (heh, it's not like there is any recoil!).
