Breadbag really looks flat, stuff it out with a fat dish, you can get these quite cheaply.
I will fill it with food / BBs, etc.
pink for panzer etc
Ooh! La-di-dah!
I'd likewise fill the pistol holster, you can get rubber film prop lugers and the like very cheaply.
Am in the process of p/x-ing my not-working M1911 for a P38 Walther!
Looking good as far as i can tell though, nice work. I reckon it'll look even better once its been gamed in and washed a few times for that vetrans look!
Thanks mate! I will buy a load of insignia tomorrow, which will improve it no end. ![]()
I have also bought Tan & Water smock and helmet cover, but the Feldgrau looks too nice to cover up!

If you're at the next comrades in arms event i wil happily show you great pictures of 2nd panzer in normandy, very similar kit to yours.
A rolled zeltbahn looks awesome on your kit if you can get one as well and a water bottle to hang over the bread bag.
For Normansy also quite common for the helmet to have a very light overspray of dunkelgelb dark yellow to break up the big dark shape.

A Zelt is a bloody useful bit of kit. From its use as a tent quarter, to a waterproof poncho, its definitely worth the money. You can either strap it onto the back of the belt, or, if you get the Yoke, it can be strapped onto the D rings.
Looking good so far Steiner. I'm quite liking the Feldgrau look!
It's worth doing a decent paintjob on the Helmet as well - it adds to the impression no end, and if you can get an M40 overseas cap (like i'm wearing in my avatar) or an M43 cap, its gives you a more comfy alternative to the helmet.

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
I was going to buy all my badges ect today, from regaliaspecialist - but then I found a reenactment forum where they say he's lost the plot since merging recently. Any advice chaps?? ![]()

I've always got my indsignia (UK ) form SoF, bloody expensive but accurate as far as uk airborne goes.
When you do get it, invest in spending a few quid to get a tailor to put it on for you (or somebody very good at sewing) in WWII insignia was fitted by the unit tailor unless exceptional circumstances prevented it.

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
SoF are certainly convenient too - one stop shop for everything (nearly).
Funnily enough I didn't get a single bit of kit from Sof when building up my German kit, which I weirdly thought was a bit of an achievement - I don't know why!

Re Insiginia , bought some from Ebay and some from SOF , in the end I needed it quickly so SOF was simpler .
Nothing wrong with Gaitors, myself and CW both wore them once, and then bought jackboots, which tells you something .
Despite the "German army was on it's knees after Jan 1 1943" view of history
(tell that to the buggers who took so long to take Caen) , Jackboots were worn by a lot of units up until 1945 . I would suggest the older soldiers hung onto them longer , whereas late drafted men got what they were given . JPPs BotB book shows a large number of Panzer, PZGren and Inf still wearing them in Dec44 , although the Volksgrenadiers tended not to . From my airsofting POV they are iconic to the "German look" along with the helmet, which is why I wear both if I can .
I've found the breadbag, and gas mask container to be both ideal for use in airsoft , but dont bother with a Zeltbahn or pots or even ammo puches.
Y straps and belt hooks are both essential though .
PS I agree that it's a shame to cover a nice Feldgrau uniform with a cammo smock , no matter how realistic it might be ![]()
Actually, SoF are no more expensive than regaliaspecialist, so I think I'll go with them.
My main problem now is footwear: I didn't realise that the German short boots are really short. In my pics, I'm just wearing (modern) British Army boots, which come 1/3 of the way up the shin. I now realise that's why I found it so difficult to do up the straps on my gaiters - and that was without my thick army socks, to boot. (
) With those on, I'm not actually sure if I'd manage to do the gaiters up.
I really don't know if I want to go to the expense of buying jackboots, especially as I have "problem" feet
- I'm flat-footed, but have wide size 12 feet, so getting comfortable footwear is really tricky.

Size 12
!!!
You may have problems , I've got size 10 and had to hunt around a bit .
Both myself and CW have been coached on having the kit sehr korrect by an ex member of 2nd Battle group .

OK, how does one wear the gas mask cannister?

Oh buttocks! I've ordered everything from SoF, then realised I forgot about a belt buckle. Does the enlisted man's buckle fit onto that SoF officer's belt I have, does anyone know? Would that be correct, or wrong?

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
No the EMs buckle will not fit on your officers belt, as the belt needs a hook to engage the buckle , unlike the officers belt which is a conventional design.
I bought an EM belt of ebay and it is much thicker than the officers one i bought from SOF .
Cheers. Belt and buckle ordered.

I've got a lovley EM belt and buckle i picked up in prague for a tenner from a junk shop!
Ah i never said the german army was as good as dead by 43....
But it is a fact that paint shortgages caused the famous dark yellow paint scheme to be utilised and that late war leather was cardboard at times.
Shoes often had wood soles by 45 and late war tmanks lacked power traverse as their wasnt enugh copper for the necessary electrice.
Take the 44 pattern uniform where a UK battledress style was adoted as an ecomnomy measure...
Hideously short of equipment but not dead by any means.
After six years of total war its harldy suprising they were short of material (given royal navy blockades for import and USAAF bombing of refineries and production plants for 'ersatz' subsitutes.

Ah I never said the german army was as good as dead by 43....
I know you didn't mate, they're still going strong in 2007
Some areas were doom and gloom, but a lot of areas of production carried on until the peace was signed. The VW plant at Wolfsburg was still producing Kublewagons until two days before the end of the war, British captured a tank factory with Panthers still on the line . Leibstandarte were able to resupply with King Tigers before their move to Hungary in Jan 45 7 even Me262 production carried on at REIMAHG until it was captured by the US in early April .
The trouble was the Germans had so little fuel to run with , and ran short of items they couldn't get from within the boundaries of the shrinking Reich , oil and rubber being two noticable ones. A lot of things were cut short , but take the 44 pattern kit, it never replaced the exhisting stocks of 40 pattern , and was warn famously by Panzerlehr Div but not many others . The German Mann in a regular unit of 1944 was still pretty much well equipped up to the Bulge , I'll conceed the VGs and other adhoc units less so , esp after the loss of East Prussia and the teritories in early 45 .
So anyway Steiner, all depends if you want to go for 44 Mann or 45 begger ![]()
Aye
I beleive panzer IV and stugg IV were in produciton til the end too, i know the alkett PIII facotry got destroyed forcing the move to stug IV. Hetzer i beleive was prduced too far back to be bombed as well ![]()
1 RTR got 10 panthers intact for trials in 1945, eight burnt up staritng the engines until they got a panzer guy to show them how you do it.
Apparently when you stop panther you have to stall it in gear or the fuel floods back out everywhere (for some reason)
Also if you use the regular steering it throws tracks so crews brake turned them mostly...
This old geezer told 1rtr they fought panther all the time to get it to work.
It wasnt called the 'problem child' by Guderian for nothing ![]()

Even the rubber-soled jackboots seem out of stock many places, so I've mailed this guy, who comes recommended by gdrecon.co.uk
http://www.frontofrussia.com/index.html
He's got some boots that look similar, which I no doubt picked up from the Ostfront...
Before I was posted to the West Front to get my Carbine....

I used to have east german jackboots years ago, i'd get those for airsoft as you've a grippy rubber sole.
Hobnails are ok for woodland but your fucked playing at urban in then.
I find it hard enough doing drill in hobnails on hard surfaces.
When i went to the cenotaph last novemebr i nearly skated coming to a halt...
