Well, after consideration of my (total lack of) ability in the painting department, I've gone for the splinter cover with inner tube band.

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier

It could have been done far better, it had a all star cast too including Kurt Jurgens, Rod Steiger, Richard Burton & Robert Mitchum, Burton does look a little like James Coburn

It seems Steiner has blown a tank up all by himself!

If its passed 9 there is a 95% chance im pissed.

In the original, Kruger had a couple of tank destruction badges.

That's BGS Pat, and depending which forums you read, farb. Good enough for me, though, and I bleached mine to make it look a bit more like the WW2 version.

Im far from being a stitch counter but am a bit keen on details so ive never realy liked these Sturm stonewashed splinter covers as they lack the side seam that was evident on all WW2 splinter helmet covers(or so i believe!!!)

Like the paint scheme on the lufty helmet. Considering it for my new para helmet. Is it sand and bands of brown?

Bought it as it is so not exactly sure what the colours are but base seems to be a sand colour with very faint bands of brown oversprayed on top

Don't worry, I won't be wearing the Schirmmutzen - I'll bring everything else though and see what takes my fancy on the day! (camo field caps, helmet & covers, M43 field cap  )
