Personally, I think that we need to make damn sure that everyone gets on with each other before it can be taken to a full organisation. We should use Arnhem as a meet and greet rather than charging into it at full speed. For this to work *everyone* has to be happy with it. If not, then it'll fall apart rapidly.

Just my tuppence worth...

Yup, totally agree with you there Kermit, no promisses, not yet, see how it goes, chew the fat, slowly first, see if you like the taste, then see about organising a training day. If it comes off, Gliderrider I'll certainly put you top of the list of "good blokes" who want to take it further. I'd be happy if we can get some good photos, well posed with authentic looking backgrounds and mabe be grouped together as an ad hoc group for this one. Lets just take it slowly, and see if we all get along.

personally i prefer jack boots, I dont think it matters too much which tunic you go for, the fact iss that men would have had different ones depending on their length of service etc. I think there is a level of flexibility in this we are not trying to form a parade ground troop but a battlegroup and as such there will be a lot of scope for variation.. or there should be anyway. Just have a look at lots of old pics of the SS in action and find something that you like. I went for oak A because its a very good all round camo and is true to SS later in the war but you could say the same for peadot.....
hope this helps

turn up a little earlier than planned and we can go through and rehearse basic squad movement, fire and manouvre tactics and very basic "FIBUA" entry procedures, and divide everyone up into entry teams, with designated mg support, team linkmen and bombers, as this is a house to house fighting situation that we're talking about at Pheonix.

But the WW2 German Armed forces didnt use modern UK Fibura techniques. Thair wasnt a fixed drill for this and that like their is today, it was essencialy new to evryone. It would be far more historically acurate, and take less time and be easyer to let 'Organic' pairing, techniques etc happen over the first event or get together the game day befour and work it all out then, although most peeps have a fair way to travel

Bear in mind that I am a Brit for this event tho, not that that makes any difference.

Nein!!!

I've only recently got back from the dolomites and 2 of the party wiped out on their snowboards on the last day.

Dave spent a short time in hospital and decided a helmet would be a good idea next time whilst my Daughter was told she'd cracked her neck so we missed our flights and spent a couple of days hanging out in Italian hospitals.

Of course the second hospital decided that she hadn't cracked her neck at all - the daft buggers in the first hospital had mistaken a rivet in the neck brace for a chip of bone!

Me, I'll stick to motorcycling - much safer, now where's me snow chains.

Hi All, (or should that be heil? )

When i get my arse in gear and get some cash together, i'll be putting together a German impression, was planning on doing Heer, but if there's an idea for doing a cohesive unit, i'll gladly throw in with it.

For personal preference, i'll be going with an M36 Feldgrau uniform, but i can chuck the releven Hohenstaufen insignia on it and drop a smock over the top no problem at all, seeing as i haven't actually bought it yet!

So yeah, add one more yes to a Hohenstaufen unit, but it won't be for a few months yet, and i'm a total n00b. I used to do paintball about 15 years ago, but nothing combat related for years!. :D

Dieselmonkey, you're welcome to join the Hohenstaufen or the Gross Deutschland, no probs, I'm hoping that both groups will get off the ground properly this year, with correctly proportioned infantry sections, spare depot kit for recuits, train together, and kit out as authentically as possible, and even share a dedicated resource website full of articles and weapon reviews ect, which I'm working on at the moment and will be putting online shortly.

Anyway, Steiner could do with a few reruits, so if your going to kit yourself out in feldgrau gear, you're probably best off getting a GD cuff title as well. I'm sure he'll have a vacancy for an obergefreiter to help him out. I'm even hoping we'll get a fallschirmjaeger team off the ground at some point. So, I'd PM Steiner if I were you!

I was going to wear my Luftwaffe FJ gear for Arnhem, but got the bug and now have Waffen-SS Hohenstaufen uniform as well.

I think I'll take both sets and swap halfway through lol

Ah but ----"old Indian trick"---- cam cream applied just out the tin looks crap, I agree, what you have to do is get a refresher wipe from Macs or KFC and spread the cream around your face and hands, does the trick just fine and looks more dirt like than dirt, and more muck like than muck, believe me!
