Looking for some advice to badge-up a HBT Panzer wrap, hope you gents can help:

1) For a StuG crew member in a Heer artillery unit, would the shoulder boards be Panzer Black or Bottle Green? (with red piping) Am struggling to find a definitive answer here, with some people saying black (since it is panzer), others say green (since it is Heer non-panzer). (I got these: http://epicmilitaria.com/product.php/76 ... -red-piped)

2) What is the rule-of-thumb for sewing on the eagle on the right breast? I am struggling to find clear pics of the exact positioning.

3) Since it is an Heer non-panzer artillery unit, the collar tabs would be the red-edged Heer litzen, and not the regular panzer skulls - right? (I got these: http://epicmilitaria.com/product.php/15 ... ollar-tabs)

If the Stugs are part of an artillery unit (as in, a proper Stug Abteilung), then the waffenfarbe will be red. If they are being used as panzerjagers on a PzJag Abt or ersatz panzers in a panzer battalion, they won't.

Usual WW2 German infighting between different branches of the armed forces, and the same vehicle being used in a number of different roles is a source of endless confusion for modellers and wargamers as well as re-enactors:)

Cheers

I've got the waffenfarbe figured out as red - Heer artillery Abteilung - but it is the boards and litzen that have me confused.

The only thing I might add is that the date of introduction of the HBT wrap would suggest field grey rather than green boards. The HBT is a work uniform so you are unlikely to put your best insignia on it. The green boards were treasured by the old hands.

Thanks for the tip, wasn't aware of it. We use the HBT as our "main" uniforms, mainly because wool is too warm for our climate. Badging the HBT up correctly is the closest to "proper" that is practical here - charging up and down in wool on a day of 30+ Celsius is a good way to end up in a bad place...
