Yes guys remember most of us are here to have fun, it aint the army many of us don't take orders well and the level of my kit is a bit dodgy but am I worried not really. It tends to mean that I am not in many of the fancy dancy photos but what the hell I still enjoy taking part.
If it stops being fun I won't be here.
I like WW2 airsoft mainly because we can tell who is on the other side by knowing one uniform from an other unlike pyjama wearing paintball games and DPM all round airsoft.
As far as I can see most if not all CIA game attendees reach a decent kit standard to enable enjoyable game play and I hope that is how it stays.
If you do want to have a dig at summons uniform level then maybe do it in a PM or in person.
Just a thought the mods may now stipulate a tight kit level just to get rid of me
Free speech is expensive these days!
i wish i never posted the bloody pics now
another thing, its all well and fine complaining about how we wear our kit, im quite young and as someone said its quite hard to fit the stuff, each person has troubles ect with kit, take that into consideration maybe? and complaining about the period kit is a bit pointless, we do make an effort to get the correct stuff, ( having not been to a game yet) people turn up with AKs M16s M14s ect ( as far as i know) im quite suprised noone as far i am aware of has complained about that and not making the effort to get a period gun. i think this arguing about the way the kit is worn is a bit pointless.

My experience at Mist was that no stipulation is needed. Pretty much fantastic kit from everyone right across the board.
I am sure I get things wrong (I do sometime have the tendency to put my beret on the wrong way round without noticing, especially when drunk ) and would appreciate someone telling me.
Anyway you Yanks look like a bleedin' mess whatever.
How dare you, how dare you.(best max and paddy impression) Problem with kit is its very personal. I will go to the extreme to get it right and will continue to poke and prod and tweak, until I'm sadisfied, which by the way will probably be never. Feedback is difficult to give and the best meaning advice, on the net can come across as bolshy. I doubt for a second, that anyone on here would want to offend or be seen as a cock. 99% of the time, we all get on and all advice is generally well accepted. Long may it remain so.
wise words.

i do like a good punch up, . i base my yank airborne impression around the battle damaged, days of hard fighting look. with my brit stuff i press creases into my trousers and bull my boots. horses for courses.
Personally I dotn see how a bit of advice can be blown up in to an argument like this it was just a comment on improvement not the rules of god given to moses.
We've all worked hard to gather our impressions. I take pride in what i do. I just thought that being told our belts are the wrong height, amoungst other things. could have been worded differently and not be told we are dishonouring the dead.
I dont think we need to argue anymore who was right or wrong, and who was to blame for it blowing up. I'll admit i started the argument by taking offense to HS comment's.
Maybe we should take the oppotunity, find out what is the best way to display an accurate impression, to go along side the kit guides
Right, leading on from this, un re enforced jumpsuit trousers, should they have leg ties or not?
I have a feeling they didn't. The leg ties were added by the riggers, during the prep for d-day. The jump suits had a tendency rip when exiting the plane and in combat. Look at 82nd Airborne pics during the sicily invasion. They wore the un-reinforced jumpsuits.
*Edit* pic added of general ridgeway during the sicily invasion
Arse, I thought that was the case. Well so much for kit accuracy
Do your trousers have them? Could you remove them?
well, the choice is whip em off or see if I can find some OD canvas and sew them on myself. At the mo, whipping them off, seems like the better/ easier option.
Bloody hell that got out of hand didn't it.
It's just that I can see you guys have made a monumental effort to get all the right kit together and I think that it would be a shame if the last hurdle was not cleared.
I agree with this, I've spent an extortionate amount of money on my kit and like it to look good. A week before any game I get all my gear out and decide what I'm taking with me, check all the gear, put it on and tighten any loose bits. I tend to think about it as no matter what happens you're a soldier not a bum. 'Tuck that shirt in! Stand up straight! I think one problem is the 42's are a lot more casual looking than the German uniform and the Brit BD's.
Tom mate, your kit looks good, once you've grown in to it it'll look mint. I can't point out many 14? (hope I got the age right) that have an M1 Garand AEG.
Anyway no one buys hundreds of pounds worth of kit to look scruffy, if you play well and fight hard and push harder it'll get scruffy on its own without anyones help.
And the bandages were worn on the helmet in Market Garden, never in Normandy. *Hint* It fits very nicely above the First Aid pouch on the belt with the straps for it tied around the back.

There it is again! Anyone know where this 'rigger ' term came from? Rigger this, rigger that - there must have been a lot of them yet didn't feature on Band of Bothers! It can't be what I understand as a rigger in current construction parlance.
Personally I have found people telling me what's right and wrong with how kit looks (note: not accuracy) very helpful. Chaps slap German gators on willy-nilly, not really giving a thought about it - well, why would you? A quick word to the wise and not only do you do it right but you know why as well. And you won't forget. This is good - costs nothing and your impression looks all the better for it. Ditto with excess webbing straps or pistol belts worn so loose you can swivel the whole body around inside. I've had Major helping me for five years now - every tip and piece of advice I've taken on board. None of it was about buying kit as such, all was about how to wear it - and it makes all the difference. I would much rather that than walk around in ignorance looking like a sack of sh*t! (Yeh I know, I still look like a sack of sh*t.)
It's nothing to do with reenacting or stitch counting - I don't aspire to look like a reenactor - my inspiration is to look like they did 60 or 70 years ago. Funnily enough reenactors (or airsofters come to that) rarely look like the real thing. I'm sure it's to do with body size and shape - uniform cut to fit us modern types just aren't 'right'. We are all too well fed and too old.
* Off topic - I've put a note in the CiA section on just what this forum is or isn't - just to clarify *

Some good points...now I'm off to find out everything there is to know about the word..."RIGGER"

While I agree with you, CW and I believe I touched on this earlier on it this thread, it is very difficult to express the real feeling behind posts. Obviously we want to look the best we can and though I'm loath to start up the whole arguement again, how you tell people is as equally as important as what you tell them. But, when statements, such as you look scruffy is the only statement and no effort is put into telling me why I look scruffy, Sorry but you advice is going to fall on very deaf ears, very, very quickly.
spiers, its marushin ;]
getting a bit too much cost wise to keep, somebody is buying it off me for £465, that money will be put towards a nice 30 cal from SnS. either that or the AEG carbine with a folding stock.
on the topic of precision, soldiers that would man a 30 cal, pistol or not? also, what webbing will i need?

Imp, I don't think the word scruffy has been used - untidy maybe.
As a rather delicious foil to all this nonsense I have just seen biguk's added photo. Now then, General Ridgeway IS scruffy and looks like a sack of sh*t!
