Looks Good Yith, nice to see another person join us Yanks for a change..
I don't know if the games I went to were flukes but there was 20 Yanks to 10 Brits.
Don't you worry yourself awake though, my own Yank clothes are on the way, soon to be followed by the webbing.
Hehe... yeah I'll feel like a right traitor if I use it too often!
well just make sure that webbings straight lol. Recently ive seen alot of guys go axis or brit over US. You going infantry?
So if can ask a slightly serious questions. the leggings, how 'tight' are they meant to be at the top?
My brother has thin girly calves (which he is insisting that I call chicken legs) and so I am inheriting his size 4R ones for my less girly (or fat) calves. I tried them on and they still felt a bit loose on me when comparing them to how tight my Brit anklets feel and I was just wondering if anyone had any info in regards to this.

I certainly am. funky leggings and a jacket which quite acceptable casual wear.
I have a strange fetish for non-elite units. When I get a German kit I want to find the straggly-est most conscript-y Heer unit I can
not that the yank infantry is straggly or conscript-y but... Meh, you know what I mean.
They should feel secure and tight but not cutting off the blood supply. Try a pair of 3R's
It was not uncommon for some units to cut down the leggings if they could get away wiht it to five inches high.
Rangers did it for one.
I've read *far too much* about US kit this month as I've noticed i've not covered it enough on the column so thought i'd address the balance.
And you cant write without research so I've been genning up on yank kit.

Cool, you know, I've never looked into GIR stuff. Good to see, learned something new there.

And so they should, although personaly I think US line infantry uniforms look realy cool, and yes I hate the doughboys pack aswell, I found it weight down my back and pulled my web belt up at the front so im ditching it for some plain susspenders I agree that brit webbing is far more comfortable and practical and germans webbing is just...........odd Id like to see more people doing US line infantry impressions, just because they look realy good.
I have 3R leggings at the moment and there's quite a bit of slack. I was going to buy some 2Rs yesterday, but the only pair I could find were at a stall where the owner had gone off to the loo and the guy he'd left didn't know how much they were. I waited a bit, but couldn't be bothered and said I'd be back. I didn't go back as I'd run out of money soon after...
Heh... so 2R leggings are still on the list.

I agree although the reality is that people are drawn to what see as more 'glamorous' or 'better looking kit', not what was representational of an army - viz. lack of Heer & abundance of SS; and the same with Brits with Airborne impressions. It's not that different in the reenactor world either (although being much bigger is does mean there is at least some representation of normality).
do you know if anyone on here does the 'big red one'?
and CW, i didnt have time to do up my shoelaces, might have a try later as ive got the day off schol and its been snowing all last night and still is now
about the gaiters, when i tried to do 2nd rangers i had gaiters that were 3R (stll got them) and they fit me ok, theyre decent gaiters aswell.

IMP does the fighting first.
I've just finished an article on the Big Red One for Airsoft international, should be in next month (as in the March issue - not the issue out in about a week)
Quite a few do the 1st, its a good impression lets you fight in virtually every major battle from Tunisia to crossing the Rhine while doing 101st airborne for example limits you to about three....

I have no issue at all with removing the 82nd patch and putting other insignia on. It only takes a few minutes. Hence I'll do anything that uses basic infantry kit. That includes the Rangers!
This is the main reason for going with Infantry kit rather than para stuff. Oh and I think it looks cooler!
It does look so much cooler tbh.
I think Brit line inf looks cool too, its just not as easy/cost effective to do as airborne but now most of PBI have airborne kit i hop more lads get on board with the territorial battalion - although i worry that it might not be cool enough

As Gadge said, I do the big red one. Its still work in progress, Helmet needs to be painted and I need to get some rough out boots. Once done it should strat to look a lot better.
are the boots that important? i was thinking of doing 1st but i cant afford to get new boots so i was going to use jump boots, would that have mattered?

Tom - you might find these threads useful to sort your long straps out. As we discussed it a long time ago you would have had to dig deep to find it!

i do like the look of the infrantry but prefer the m43 airborne look, has anyone had any experience of trying some of the USMC ( iwo jima ) style loadouts?
