I think I would like to start this thread to say thank you to everyone who was at this day. I had a cracking time, even though I cannot walk.
Many thanks to Yith and Sacaleyback for instructing us and making the day both instructive and fun.
it was an absolute pleasure, the standard of kit and commitment was out of this world.i was genuinely surprised and pleased by the way you threw youreslves into the role. all credit to you, you have all played before, but it was hard to believe there had been no previous military training. pat yourselves on the back, and walk with a swagger. well done.
kudos all round chaps and chapettes.
as above thanks alot to scaley and yith, great job guys!
also thanks to seanebabes for sticking it out with all us yanky doodles. Looking forward to the pics.

Thank you to one and all for a great day and indeed weekend!
Thanks to Lip, Yith and Nige for putting on such an amazingly informative and fun training programme!
Special Kudos to everybody for doing so well at Drill, its not often Yith is left speachless! hehe
Special highlight for me: Assisting Sean in the defense of the Rhodie bush, once you started the attack, I only managed to get 4-5 rounds off before I was rendered subdued by the accurate coverfire. (Well done Craig for a well co-ordinated assault
) The grenade to the top of the Shack I was in left my ears ringing for ages!
Special thanks to Sean the Token German! I Hope you had as much fun as we did! And it was quite something to camp out on Saturday night's Tundra in just a Bivvy bag!
Note to self: Poison mouse for annoying midnight Hooty owl, tranqueliser darts for early morning barky dogs, warmer sleeping bags all around! *Goes on google to look up 'Bivvy bag'
*
Last point, it was nice seeing everybody getting stuck into all aspects of the training, seeing some regular faces as well as new (was nice to meet you Stamper, good effort on the long hall up from the west country!)
Matt "Webby" Webb
also thanks to seanebabes for sticking it out with all us yanky doodles.
Looking forward to the pics.
Yes Lip's right, thanks for that Sean, you got into it with great gusto, and there were many cameras that I kept noticing - and kept trying to look serious/pick my pathetic legs up/suck my gut in for. Well see if we look something like. ![]()

While making my sausages I was practicing basic drill...and when I was walking back from the shop I found myself marching...
hah!! me too

Thanks for quoting my comments in Craig! Carly took about 100 pics with yith's camera, and i took a similar number with Tyreal's! Plus theres the video, i do hope Craig's gun noises were picked up by the camera, i was trying my damnedhardest not to laugh!
Roll on St Lo!

Thanks to all, especially our glorious instructors. I had a great time and will be back for more. It’s bl##dy good fun this isn’t it? Hopefully the Heer were not embarrassed by my efforts.
And a damn fine assault by you chaps too. If it hadn’t been for the sand bags you were kind enough to provide I think we would have lasted a few seconds only.
I’ll sort out the pics I took, some rubbish in there but I think some will be OK.
Still can't understand what you all mean when you go on about it being cold Saturday night/Sunday morning, I was toasty nice. And surely that owl was perfect accompaniment to my snoring? Americans… crazy!

Aye, I look forward to the pictures and footage of us.
While making my sausages I was practicing basic drill...and when I was walking back from the shop I found myself marching...now all I need is a sizable stick to practice the rifle drill! (I don't think I am allowed rifles at uni...)
never mind the bloody drill!!! practice not being seen whilst making sausages

It was great fun. I'll echo Scaley's comments about the quality of kit and commitment put in by all. Well done.
Right I've not had chance to sort the pics from my camera yet as when I got home I had a curry and the promptly fell asleep.
But I did manage to find this video to support Scaley's training...

I think i'll bring some one my fake blood pots with me then, bloody up some of those bandages if needed.
"Follow me, i'm lost too!"

As long as it doesn't run at all, that would work quite well.
The next Doughboy outing will be the PBI Saint Lo game (20th June). US contingent of 82nd airborne, and 325th Glider Infantry Regiment (Basic Infantry kit with 82nd All Americas patch) Preference for the game is the Glider Infantry.
Be good to have you along Matt
