I am very glad that my Yank clothes arrived in time for the snow as I didn't posses anything suitable that wasn't for WWII gaming.

These American roughouts make fantastic casual boots, and I do not look out of place. In fact I can toddle down to the shops in my M41, roughouts and Jeep cap and I just like a chap in military chic. 8) If I was to go out in my PBI gear I would look distinctly odd.

Good old American cultural Hegemony I say.

p.s. it is nice gear. :good:

Heh, if you waterproof your roughouts properly you wouldn't be wearing them as casual shoes!

Nah I go out in all my US gear and still get stared at but maybe the jeep and tank behind has a bit to do with it. :slap:

But yes I agree the US kit is about the most acceptable on the modern street.

Now google how to pronounce it. No one agrees.

With a hard 'g'.

Pronounce it with a soft 'g' and it sound like what the bankers have been doing with our savings for the past few years.

Basically you look like anyone form a WWII doughboy to a singer in the village people, and all in between.

Yes... roughouts are comfortable. I dubbined mine and it made no difference... still comfortable. Wladek, get on and do it!

I agree with the M41, if it wasn't winter and I have a nice warm coat, I'd have considered wearing it out. Now I have a 82nd patch on it I'm not so sure.

HBT trousers on the other hand are weird... they have no slit pockets in them... nowhere to put my hands!

"Hegemony" bah!!! I used the word "triumvirate" in casual conversation today. The other person looked puzzled, so I checked the definition in google and I'd got it right! :D Though I'm still not sure how to pronounce it properly! lol

I was once punched in the face for using the word "purport". It was a fair cop.

I once used 'pedantic' in a discussion with my parents. They asked what does that mean, and I had to explain. It was really hard to do without devolving into a comedy sketch.

I failed by the way.

Meh
