In time you will, in the mean time, keep your eye on the forums and soak up all the banter and knowledge. I rekon there's not much between all 270 odd of us on here who wont be able to answer a question any 1 has.

Ok well the training days will be just like open days ? so 14+ can addend ?
Best check with the brass about that chap, pop old 'un a PM ![]()

right ok :]
Something to have a chinwag about at the training day, sounds cool.... Both Rhys and I have Infantry and Airborne gear, so we could switch and change.
Not looking to take any sort of command over the side, I think HS has that pretty wrapped up at the events, I think we should be the members responsible of getting the teams together, and making sure that they are all organised and know what they're doing.
Aye can switch and change as need be
oh and for sure let HS run us heh
but happy to lead a squad where need be as by the looks of things hes on the geeeerrman side for wotan and dday heh
I'll be coming along as 82nd for wotan and rangers for dday I think though I hear its cool down in ucap so may bring the rangers gear for a trial run
just realised i'll be somewhere in europe during the training day unfortunatly ![]()

Ah well, I'll take notes and distribute them accordingly!
Ill be infantry for both events, perhaps we should look into some1 leading the airborne contingent.
Also, good to have you both on Board Barrie and Annie! ![]()

i think for Wotan we'll all be lumped in together regardless of unit/division etc.
As for dday. you couldnt pay me to change from inf for that one hehe

Good man, infantry all the way! We need as many bods as possible to throw at the MG42s ![]()
Am I right in thinking that the airborne contingent will be made up of the red devils anyway? Or did i dream that?!
And yeah for Wotan, I was thinking about suggesting splitting the side into 4 groups, the tunnels are a grid 4 wide, if we each took a corridor, we could avert penetration by the Axis

originally the plan was for US to be inf only and airborne to be brit only however he changed that when some people asked if they could come as brit inf or us airborne. he didnt say though whether the US airborne would start on the beach or inland though.
good plan for wotan though as I hear most plans soon go to rat poo down there due to holes in walls for shooting through and the maze of corridors heh
considering going down for a exploratory skirmish in september

Noooo don't! Treat it like you would if you were actually playing out the role of the mission, heading down to unchartered territory, into a complex you know very little about! I'm looking forward to getting completely lost and battling like a stubborn SOB, BAR in 1 hand, .30cal in the other hehehehe! ![]()

Lol well I fancy it just as a regular skirmish. but you are right. 2 of the people i play with at open days have been twice and love it. they said even after 2 times they havent a freaking clue where they are 90% of the time.
unfortunatly my thompsons currently shooting 345 fps so I either need to downgrade it(loathe to do this when its running so nicely) or find another gun. May accellerate my m3 grease gun plans bwahahaha

Don't get too wound up about hierarchies - top brass will change from time to time (I'll be leading the US for Wotan and in overall command the Allies).
Finding who will be good squad leaders is a good plan - our specialised games (as opposed to run-around open days) have all led strongly on squad leadership. In other words, the run of the game has depended on you the players, and success or otherwise has depended on plan making and plan execution.
What is critical is bonding and gelling as one force - when you are up against it you know your mates will do the job and you will work together * Cough - Churchill's *
Being part of the USAG can only be good for you and good for the game!

I would love a grease gun, rat at at at at at at! ![]()
Thanks Chomley, *salutes*

Oh we're not to fixed on the brass Chomley just dont want to over step our mark. and yep the USAG should help us all. If we can get all the US chaps at wotan working together properly and keep it together for dday we should do great
Plus having a squad at dday made up entirely of CIA folks will help alot.
Oh and as for the grease gun. trying to work out how to make a aeg version but its slow going currently

As you mentioned D-Day - all US will come off the beach (regardless of branch) and Brits will be dropped behind lines.

I'll be bringing my M3 to Wotan, hopefully. I love it, when it works!
Agreed that the gelling of the unit is important, and I'm also up for the CiA platoon/section.
However, I won't be treating this as 'just another skirmish' to paraphrase Rhys. It's all about the suspension of belief for me.

Oh I didnt mean I'll be treating wotan as a regular skirmish I meant I may go to one of UCAPs regular open day skirmishes to see the place before hand. Im as much into the suspension of belief too ![]()

Re-read it, now that I'm not augmented by Carlsberg. ![]()

Should this perhaps be moved into 'Allied Private Discussion', as a counterpart to Gadge's thread on No2 Commando?

No, keep it here as there are people who play both sides, plus people who aren't coming to Wotan who won't be able to access it.
