Has anyone else heard anything from AFRA about renewals for 2012?

I can't see anything on my membership page other than it saying I am paid up to the end of 2011. Should I just re-apply?

Fortunately I just received the latest purchase from eHobby and until a Garand or Bren materialise I'm hoping I won't need to prove exemption but it's comforting to have it.

Cheers

Charlie

Yes, you should have had a reminder email. If not, check your profile to make sure you have an up to date email address there.

Once logged in there should be (if I recall correctly) a button marked "Renew" on the right hand side. Double check all your profile information - if there is a photo displayed you don't need to do anything with that. Once submitted you will received a message to say application is in progress. You can also navigate to the Paypal button (I think in your profile section - for some reason an obvious official and recognisable Paypal button isn't used so look for it in text format). Mine took a couple of days before I heard it was successful which wasn't at all bad over the Xmas holiday period when the AFRA chaps had other priorities.

Thanks C-W.

Nope, checked and never received an email about renewal, several others from them and I now have one saying I've made an application for a renewal which is :good:

Odd though it listed me as a member even though it had expired and then as soon as I make an application for renewal AFRA membership disappears. But all seems to be progressing.

I have to say that I know others have had problems but apart from this miniscule hitch I have had nothing but positive experiences with AFRA. All purchases I have made including two imports have gone through very smoothly.

I did get the reminder. Instructions were then as C-W says. A Renew tab will have appeared on the right of your profile info. Once you go into this and have processed the a renewal if you go back to your profile the paypal icon will have appeared and you can press it and pass through to pay for your membership.

Not had a reminder but have had an email confirming membership renewal has been processed - it seems certificates this year rather than the laminated card.

And I've already filled in my risk assessment for Sevastopol. :good:

Thanks again CW.

Yes, we're busy sorting them almost as fast as they come in. Any problems, contact me either here or through the AFRA contact page. You should have got an email tonight with mine and Rich/Emma Busbys contact details on. New system in place. All is going smoothly. 2012 memberships are being fully activated within hours of payment being received. Certificates are going to be produced as a back up in case the verdamt card machine doesn't work at all. It's on it's way to sunny Brum this weekend so they can start production :)

Didnt get an email but followed the 'renew' membership button and paid the fee. I've never had any correpondence from AFRA but hopefully things will change in 2012!

Email notifications are a bit of a lottery I find. Hotmail, AOL, Gmail and others will bin emails at the drop of a hat if they take exception to them, often not even going into a 'spam' folder. Even if they do go to a spam folder unless the user makes use of webmail you won't ever get to see what non-spam gets dumped in there.

Supposedly helpful services such as Message Labs, Spamhaus and the like sometimes blacklist email senders for no apparent good reason - I've had kerfuffles before of having mail blocked and it is a ball ache to remove.

Add to that out-of-date email addresses that haven't been user updated and it is easy to see why emails never arrive.

Young Matty Wheels is all sorted now :) The email contact has been changed in the last few weeks, so it now comes through directly to myself and Rich and Emma Busby. None are being lost to spam filters, trust me. I have an AFRA folder in my email account and it's bursting at the seams  No one can fall through the cracks any more. We have a system in place which is working very smoothly and efficiently.

Can I reiterate, if you have any problems, please contact me on here if you get no email reply? It might still happen, but I doubt it very much.

I meant your outgoing notification emails Bryn, whether they are actually received is a lottery beyond your control .
