The pins have little wings on them to keep them in the plastic plug, if you look from the pin end you can see them, they need pushing back into the side of the pin with a very small screwdriver or pick. You should then be able to gently pull the wires and remove the pins from the plug one at a time. Once they are removed, spread the wings again and put them back in the plug on the opposite side.
I had a similar problem with my old ak, I managed to carefully dremel the inside of the stock to gain more space for the battery.
