Oh, we Brits aren't too chicken to 'soft in the cold - Gunman's Op Redcap was a prime example, especially with legends like Dadio being completely hardcore wearing hobnailed ammo boots on sheet ice (yet I was the one to slip and fall while wearing BCH! :slap: ).

Mad dogs and Englishmen come out with an ice-cold STEN?

The problem with December games isn't the cold, it's people's availability. Folks tend to have lots of commitments before Chrimbo.

That said, I'm sure there'll be at least one event to attend. They're usually announced 3-4 months in advance, so a bit early at the mo.

And if it is really heavy snow, like we had this year, it rather tends to bring the country to a standstill.

Anyway, I did manage one game in December in a reasonable amount of snow, enough to wear my snow suit anyway :)

If you are coming over for a month I'm sure there will be something on.

Cheers

As others have said, December is cold, people are saving their money for Christmas, etc. The main problem gaming wise though, is that it gets dark very early. Couple this with a start time of 1000hrs or so and, you don't get much gaming time. Mind you, there's no problems with keeping your beer cold for the social!

Exactly like Pete says.

When we organised the first ever CIA event 'clash of eagles' it was in Novemer and we learnt a valuable lesson as it not only got quit dark quite quickly (making packing up more difficult for us orgnisers) but we also learnt that while in the safe zone it was still twighlight by late afternoon, under the tree canopy it was very dark indeed.

Since then we've tried to keep events from about March to Nov to make sure there are sensibel daylight hours, the only real exceptions being 'indoors' events like some of the tunnel complex games/battles that hve been held and battles that purposely have 'night' phases IIRC

I always personally felt that as it quite often gets dark by 3pm/4pm in the UK in december and its not light until late in the morning it just made gaming far too trcky

(and like Steve says there's also the xmas holdiay commitment to factor in but I think light is the real issue - training days tend to happen in winter in the past a theres less stress about it being light as you can do valid team building still)
