Lard Ass Monkey, Dieselmonkey and I are contemplating an 'escape from colditz' LRP type event using an urban site patrolled by guards. POW have to sneak about the site and locate and hide escape items before making a break for it.

Certain doors canonly be opened with a skeleton key, you need a coil of rope to be able to pass over certain areas etc.

Its an ambitious idea and very much more a live roleplay event than an airsoft skirmish which is why it falls out of the PBI remit.

Got a site considered its just a case of whether its too left field for folk?

I like the sound of that, I used to love the Parker board game as a kid :good:

So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."

"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

My only other suggestion to a re-run of this game would be to make the Evader bookings system a bit more transparent. I didn't really understand why this needed to be so secret squirrel. Clearly it's going to be over subscribed but it could look like the evader team was being cherry-picked rather than first come, first serve.

To a degree you are correct Martin - they were being cherry picked. The Jed side was going to be a tough cookie and we (Guy) had to be sure they were a) physically up to the job and b) knew what was entailed and preferably had experience of similar events. With so few Jeds the game would have collapsed if they had buggered off in the first hour or hours 'cos it was too demanding. I'm afraid we have the spectre of Churchill's looking over our shoulder. The second reason was to build the tension - not even the other three commanders knew who (or how many) opponents they were up against. This event unfolds by itself and, as at Ariel, commanders react to what they see or are being told - not playing to a script of 'attack this', 'defend that', 'move on the the next paragraph'.

Gosh. It's like being picked for the team in a PE lesson all over again :D

not even the other three commanders knew who (or how many) opponents they were up against.

Wouldn't it become obvious in the car park before the game?

They were being inserted from an entirely different part of the site.

What are you trying to say? I play chess AND run the local club but I'm still trying to work out what happened to my elite team invite - did it get lost in the post or something?

Date dependant Fox Company will be in, so that's max 5.

Having done IED E&Es I'd be very careful about the time of year you do this! Yes some adverse weather adds to the hardship for the evaders (and a little to the hunters), but it can also ruin the event. I've seen evaders (using modern gear) forced to give up due to the weather in March. To organise something in the worse months of the year, for players in WW2 gear is setting the event up for failure - not even the hardest members will want to pay for the chance of dying from hypothermia! I'd say it would be best left until after Easter.

Without advertising for another site, IED are running a modern E&E on 19/20 Sep - there are still places available for the HF if anyone wants to experience this type of event, before jumping into a WW2 one. There are a few CiA members playing already and Guy is IC HF!
