whilst at work and on the forums i have to be very stealthy.

when the boss pops out, i quickly log in check forums, and then delete all traces.

do others have these problems

for my own curiosity ive done a poll

thanks

I'm usually logged into various forums all day just with the window minimised and I check them out now and then through out the day, it helps relieve the tedium of the job :(

Well, my boss cant say much when he's either on one of the Ford forums or playing Solitaire most of the day himself...

My work computer is barred from most forums & you get a warning pop up saying you have been logged & may be reported, the easy option is to plug in your own laptop in a spare broadband socket & you can do what you like, if your productivity is not affected no one cares

Our security team is constantly trying to block access to various types of site, it just means I have to spend more time figuring out how to get around the blocks they've put in place

I havnt got a work based net connection, but I take my laptop and now and again browse, if i have enough money on my phone.

A superviser once came onto my site and told me that he could confiscate it as i was using it at work, I told him if he tryed id class it as theft from the premises and kick the living shit out of him for trying, pointing out that their is still scope for me to use watever force is nessesery to detain him under the ancient laws of the land. The cocky sod pointed out that the criminal justic act said reasonable force, I counted this by the MAGNACARTA, Game, Set and mach ME.

God I am sad.

I work in IT at my work so I know how to bypass the web filter.

We have no restrictions here...

I write software for the web, so it'd be daft to restrict my access.

The general attitude is that you can do what you want as long as the job gets done.

Considering I work on a tip, it'd be pretty hard to drive a big JCB with a laptop on me knee. My answer would be a no then.

I have to either be stealthy or just don't bother. 9 times out of 10, the second I go to browse a website someone will come round and ask me to do something, or the boss will start moaning that I'm not getting my work done.
