when you log in the events page the most recent event is 2015, and this continues when you look through the other headings.
I'm not moaning as I find this place brilliant but I do feel that many would come across this and leave assuming nothing is going on.
Is help wanted running the forum/website? Or am I just being overly sensitive?
Paul
I think you mean that old stickied topic, which I have now unstickied. All the current events are the first thing on the forum and the countdown to the next game is at the top of every page.
I think paule means the portal page ? - www.ww2airsoft.org.uk. The events tab shows most recent event as Jan 2015
I'm not sure that's what he meant as you don't have to log in to the website itself.
But yes, I'm afraid the airsoft scene isn't what it once was and it became an uphill battle to even get game organisers to provide publicity materials. The irony is that anyone searching for WW2 airsoft will land at the website - indeed this is where the majority of the web traffic goes - not the forum and definitely not Facebook (which is completely useless for game promotion or as a depository of information, exactly why it doesn't appear in searches).
All, bar one, of the people that wrote articles for the website are no longer participating in the hobby, and even the forum moderators no longer play. So that just leaves me to run and pay for the forum and website, as I have done for the last 10 years or so.
So, if there is anyone who has something to offer and is prepared to put the time and effort in long term I'd be happy to hear it.
I think there would be a few of us who'd be happy to help with the running costs and admin side if needed.
Often wondered why there was no donate button anywhere.
indeed it isn't for one man to do - I assumed people had moved on but couldn't see how to help.
I'm sure there are people out there who are happy to help keep this going - and hopefully get it back towards how good it was.... Why not stick a thread up about what help we can give? I for one am more than happy to try to keep ww2 airsoft alive and kicking, as I'm sure others are too.
and yes as Stanley said - I was referring to the portal page (didn't know that was what it was called) which hadn't been updated with any recent games and I can imagine would put people off digging further. I think you've changed it already though
Quite sad news, I've followed this site for years even despite being in the States.
Crucially, WW2 airsoft is all about the games. The biggest thing peeps can do is make the effort to attend events. When WW2 airsoft was big, we all made a massive effort and travelled all over the country to both run and attend games. Indeed, I travelled all over the country just to find sites where we could run games.
There are a lot of other dressy-up game genres out there now, WW2 airsoft isn't new any more, the old school players have moved on. Therefore the forum activity has dropped and the number of viable games has declined. It doesn't have to be this way, and it doesn't have to be a vicious circle - you get out of a hobby what you are prepared to put in, especially in a genre like WW2 airsoft which is, and always was, run by the players themselves.
Thank you for the kind offers - a volunteer is updating the pricing and sourcing for the website reference kit guides, which are out of date.
If there is anyone out there who is forum-savvy, then a moderator the For Sale section would be useful (it's not onerous - just house keeping on a weekly basis).
And if there is anyone who is skilled at publicity and design, then reviving the Facebook page as a game promoter would be useful. I'm not keen on using Facebook for chitty-chatty stuff, the intention is to push game attendance, not to ask questions about kit (which can be answered on the forum).
I would gladly give a shilling or two to help out with costs,.....maybe even half a crown!
I'm not up for helping online, I get on site once a day for a short while...but couldn't take the responsibility for running anything.

Happy to help if I can Chommers, am on the forums most days.
Cheers for the offer Matty, you are the Market Place mod! I'll PM at some point with more info...

As the forum creator appears to bear the cost of running the forum alone ,i have no idea how much money that is,but if he puts up a donation thread i am sure many people would donate..
If everybody sent £1 by Paypal once a year i am sure this would prolong the life of the forum.
Forums in general seem to be going out of fashion ,it would be a disaster to loose it as Facebook is site and i hate it and dont see the point of it all,not for use by a club a community such as this.

Excellent point i am sure some of the game organisers would donate larger sums to cover the cost of the forum as that is where we get our players from
Thoughts CW?
PS I don`t use facebook as it is bad for security so don`t ever mention the F Book word again
I'd be happy to chip in some cash as I think the forum is a vital focal point. I'm happy to go on doing the campaign medals for games too, although I don't claim any great skill when it comes to manipulating images.
I wouldn't diss FB too much as that is where a ton of organising activity happens these days. I'll be going to more FB organised events this year than ones through the forum (partly due to the dates rather than a love for FB).

Happy to donate to some of the costs, I tend to use facebook more these days for most gaming, as nearly everyone is on and active on it to a degree and easier to cover a variety of games, but love this forum so happy to splash some cash as its a wealth of knowledge.
