I am trying to get a feel for future planning of games what people would like.
The traditional Saturday game with evening social or spread over 2 days Saturday and Sunday. Or combinations of these days.

Kind of the problem I have found with polls for these things. Also what is someone only ever attends a single organisers game? what use is there input for other organisers?
anyway I have answered - and have been to most peoples games. Sundays, then I don't have to close the shop - pretty much doubles any fee for me before petrol and all such is counted in. I do go to things on a Saturday, but will be being much more strict about things being 'worth my time' this year. on a Sunday pretty much anything is worth the time.
Voted for a weekender, otherwise it's not worth (for me) to come over to that island
Picked the last option and reasons behind are:
Saturday only game would be the option for the summer when we can get a long day game in.
Sunday only would only be for somthing local because of getting back early enough for next days work.
And the whole weekend is the games i am pretty much used to.
While I do enjoy weekend events, they are much more logistically challenging so if forced to choose one or the other, then one day. That in turn means a social the night before, rather than after, if it means an overnight stop to get there.
Generally prefer Saturdays to Sundays, but not that bothered really.
l have often just done the Saturday at weekenders as, frankly, the Sunday is often a waste of time and I would rather be at home.
Cheers

I predict this poll will make planning no easier, but will be interesting nonetheless.

If you don`t ask You will never know.Even if they attend a single organisers game it will still have some bearing on setting up or at least trying to get them to come and try other events or what is the point of putting games on if we only attend your own groups event?? I came and gave the Rifles only Eagles game a go and loved it but if you had put it on All weekend or on a Sunday it wouldn`t have been for me and probably quite a few others.

Sundays are always best for me. When I first started going out with my now wife those many, many years ago my Sundays were always a day for me... and also for her... Even now when what I do on those days has changed it's still the day when I'm most likely to be available.
Also a single day over a weekend just reduces logistics for me. A close event is a single day and a far away event can be a single day and a single night. Neither of which are too much trouble.
Make it two nights away and it's a whole other ballgame with time off work to travel and the like... And for that my public re-enacting events get priority.
I prefer and always have preferred weekend events, they're much more immersive if done right, in my opinion. However, I don't mind one day games and I actually prefer to play on a saturday these days (especuially during the F1 season). But, just to muddy the waters, I don't mind sunday games either!
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

That is pretty much what I meant. I still like to do weekends, but passes for day events are much more readily available I think you get a better experience with a full weekend, but I need to balance that against other real life stuff.

Concur with all of the above poster's comments. In other words as player's preferences and practicalities vary widely it is incumbent on organisers to provide a mix of game styles, locations, single days and weekenders. I'd personally rather draw from experience than polls (which I loath and would happily remove them from the forum if the moderating team agreed!) and this tells me variety is the spice of life. As long as the timescale of the game is appropriate to the event/experience then it is all good with me.
I'll just add that WW2 games only work by players making a monumental effort to get off their arses and travelling to an event. And it can be a struggle, of course - it is always easier not to do something than do something. Those that do are enlightened, fulfilled and entertained in equal measure. Those that put barriers up are missing out. It never ceases to amaze me as I watch 'players' spend hard earned cash on uniforms, equipment and guns and obsess over completeness or accuracy yet won't spend a fraction of that time or money attending an event!

My point being is that it's pretty academic.
The nature of organising is that there will likely be and equal amount of people who 'prefer' all three options, but the practicality is that it comes down to many more factors including site and organiser availability amongst others. I've been doing this for nearly ten years now, and it really makes little difference.
Best plan is to organise what you can and encourage people it's worth the effort. If people like the idea they'll make it work and get there, regardless.
Plus wot Chommers sed.
I voted for Sunday, well it seemed to be lagging behind a bit.
To be honest the last option is as true but as I generally play cricket on Saturdays in the Summer Sundays seems a good way of having cake and eating it. Perhaps there should be an option for Sundays in the Summer but Saturdays are OK outside of the cricket season...
At this point I should just add that I am extremely grateful to all the organsiers for the effort they put in to organise events whatever day they are on!
I have a small skewer hidden in the collar of my jumping jacket, and a razorblade in my gaiter, as well as my knife.
Unless it were a particularly close event, I'd always prefer a full weekender, purely to make the fuel costs and travel time worthwhile.
While i like weekenders i actually prefer Saturday only games or Sunday only games as often an excessive social the night before can make the second day a real non event... by the time you've galvanised the epically hung over you've lost starting time and tempers tend to fray on day two.

I voted for Saturday games, think that works best with a social on the Saturday night and then home on the Sunday.
This is difficult to vote on.
As a self employed person in the building industry during the ongoing financial crisis the country is having I have had to carefully assess my spending and have come to the conclusion I need to halve my spending on the hobby, not just kit purchases but also attending events. Also I have 2 dogs which a lady freind always use to look after for me when I was away for a weekend, but as she has recently aquired 2 more dogs herself sadly there is no longer any room for mine, therefore at any event that Im staying overnight I have the added cost of kennelling.
Therefore for events this year I am looking to attend less, try to attend several within an easy drive from the midlands so I dont have to stay over, and only attend a few where I have large travel and kennelling costs.
If its a one day local event it doesnt really matter to me if its saturday or sunday. If travelling Id prefer a saturday game. not bothered if the game runs into a sunday as Im normally too knackered to give it my all on the sunday anyway.
My ramblings probably dont help your planning much though
one day games suit me, im usually too knackered on the second day to enjoy it.its also difficult to get a two day pass ,along with the extra costs of a two day event ,extra food dearer game etc.... saturday would be my choice as it leaves sunday to get home and unpack/relax before work, but i would never dismiss a sunday or a two day game if it sounded good.i would like to point out that i don't plan or organize games and although this is my view i'm very grateful to those who do and hope it does not sound critical of past games.

I would always prefer a weekender, although going home early sunday isent always bad.
