Don't forget Jethro, that the opinions of one forum member do not reflect the opinions of all the others.
Think what we may of open days but, they are the first point of contact with airsoft for many of the players who eventually gravitate to WW2 airsoft, ourselves included. While some open days may indeed be "shitty", may are not and are played out on some very good sites, with very good people.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Yes, you are quite right to point that out Jethro - I have probably been guilty of such a faux pas myself before now, when all I really meant was "my choice isn't for open days any more". Simple as.

There are some very, very good open days, and there are some very, very bad ones. I've played at over 40 sites and i've seen both ends of the spectrum, so it is unfair to write them all off.

As I just said over on the ZeroIn forum, anti-UKARA people are potentially as damaging as 2-tones.
If there's no record of them, there's no way to prove how many people would be affected by a ban on RIFs.
the opinion expressed was my own personal one, and its unfair to brand the forum as "specialist"
everone on here is different.
my personal opinion, whilst anti open day, does not mean that ALL open players are shite or idiots.
but dont deny, that genaral open day play does attract a lot of "idiots", and whilst "themed" groups also have idiots in them as well, they tend on the whole to have like minded people who share a common interest, and generally those people try harder to make the "theme" work.
this is less so on open days wherer the spectrum of players is more diverse, and I PERSONALLY feel that gameplay deteriorates because of it
ive been banned from a site as well for "idiot" behavior, so im not saying im perfect, far from it, but when im posting on a WW2 forum about "general airsoft" , i dont really care if a "multicam teflon turnip" gets offended by what they read, if it offends them, its probably because they recognize themselves in the description.

I dont do UKARA, I dont get to play that often but when I do it is usually open days at sites around here.
Some are good, some are not so good, some are good one day and not so hot the next time. There are any number of factors that can affect this good or not so good result. It might be me, I have played like shit sometimes and better at others. I wouldn't blame a few acres of land for it.

"Truth is a shining goddess, always veiled, always distant, never wholly approachable, but worthy of all the devotion of which the human spirit is capable. "
Jethro - I think you're seeing conflict where there is none.
I also have no interest in open days any more. Pretending to be a regular site member just to get UKARA registered isn't something I want to do either. I'm not saying that others shouldn't do open days, just that I don't want to. Specialist is not the same as elitist.

ohh and dose my partaking in a CiA game last summer make me a member hahahahahahahahaa
On a technicality is it was 'operation lightning' or 'St Lo' at your site then probably not as they were both PBI games and nowt to do with CiA other than being advertised on this forum by the kind CIA chaps who let us have space on here.
Unless you were at another one of the events and i've got it wrong ![]()
Makes you a PBI member if that helps? lol.

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
one thing that is getting my mons tits is the constant OPEN DAYS ARE SHITE attitude and anything other than WW2 has nothing to offer. Weather you mean it not guys, thats how it reads from the outside
and the constant barrage of 'We are better' is to say the least boring. I love this forum and its an ideal place to discuss anything WW2....Its 'THE' place to promote ww2 airsoft which is why I link it to my small ww2 section on the Gunman forum. But having posts containing this kind of negative chit-chat is rediculars if promoting WW2 and getting new blood is what your trying to achieve.
If not then I suck balls for misunderstanding...in which case my hole awaits
Now then, back to topic, if you want site membership I offer it to anyone that has been to any of my games as its MY memership, I have a pile of CIA members already sporting a shiny GMA membership with the go faster stripe, which is almost as good as UKARA as I have my own database (which we had before UKARA) to help guys buy stuff from abroad and from a few select gma AFFILIATED retailers from the UK.
I think having membership with whome ever its with is a good idea, just so your registered. AFRA is as good as any and is provided here

Constant attitude? Doesn't look that way to me. It only gets dragged up whenever it gets discussed!
One thing to bear in mind is, that the vast majority of the members on here are people who have played open days regularly, we're not talking noobs here. Some of us have even run our own open day sites, so don't think we're talking out of elitism here either.
"Specialist" airsofting is mostly inhabited by people disaffected with the open day style of play and the "who spends wins" attitude and some are just a bit more vocal about their reasons for that, that's all. If people "outside" view it a certain way, then perhaps they're better off sticking to their open days? We're not out to turn every airsofter into a WW2 player. Personally, I'd rather have 40 good, honest people who "get it" at an event than 200 morons who just want to dress up.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
To be fair Josh, you'd expect a forum of WW2 enthusiasts to be, well, enthusiastic. I don't think the prevailing feeling is 'We are better' - more like 'We love what we do'.
But more than this - many, probably most, WW2 players have had their fill of open days and are looking for something more/different. The five members of the CiA team are in this category for whom there would have to be a very good reason to attend an open day - for it would be unrewarding. Been there, done that.
That said, saying "open days are shite" is of course an incorrect statement, which ever way you look at it. They aren't - thousands of people up and down the country playing at weekend open days can't be wrong! But saying "I think open days are shite" is a personal opinion and therefore valid. Not a very subtle statement, that's true!
So anyway, open days are fab if you like them, not fab if you don't! No need to slag open days off, there is something for everyone out there...
Very good to learn of your membership card scheme - it's news to me and I assume it will be very good news to others too.

Good news to me too

I DO think that we are guilty of a certain hypocrisy by mocking the multicam brigade. Pretending to be a l33t snypa is no more daft than pretending to be in the Wehrmacht.

It's a lot more expensive though! Have you seen the price of genuine multicam, Systema PTW's and Gen3 night vision kit lately?

Ah, that's a slightly different argument Martin - it's a bit like airsofters mocking paintballers or any of a thousand similar half-joking pseudo-elitism jibes - slagging off BMW owners, say. Perfectly normal behaviour!

No hope for Multicam BMW owners then...

Yeah, I suppose after they've spent all their money on stereo kit, tinted windows, stupid "M" kits and chavvy wheels on their s****y base model 1.6 3 series, there's not much left for indicators!

He drives and M5.

What happens to people when they buy one of these hideous Hun wagons?
