Right, will be the first, if briefly to get this back on track then.
I personally am a bit of both, although not an actual reenactor i attended a lot of ww2 events before i started as an airsofter. As a result of being around reenactors so much i would say i have tried to get the standard of my kit fairly high, and that has carried over to airsoft.
Also personally if i am going to do an impression i want it to look as correct as possible, so i'm likely to buy items to get the look right, even if they have no actual use in a skirmish game. Of course again uniform i put together for CIA events will also find itself at ww2 events/shows, so i suppose then buying the extra kit is a good thing.
So i suppose this argument comes down largely to your other interests, i know there are many like me who also attend non airsoft ww2 events, where the level of kit needs to be higher. While those of us who only attend ww2 airsoft games may not go as far with their kit.
Of course this is a mere generalisation, i'm sure there are those of us who do go to great lengths even just as airsofters.
any hoooooo thats me gibbered on for long enough, lets see if we can get this thread back on track
Cheers Phil

I think thats a fair assessment.
I was airsofting for years and re-enacting seperatley and it wasn't until i was six months into re-enactment that I got in touch with Yith and the CiA thing started soon after.
So similarly my kit was of a standard to do railway shows and the like before i skirmished in it.

will try to catch you at Ariel for a chat at some point.
I was going to try and get along the night before if it looks like there is some drinking and "getting to know you" going on.
Back on topic...
For refenence, my name is Martin !.
What a fantastic name. Never met you but I like you already
. I'll soon be pressuring you to join my litigious campaign against UK TV sitcom writers of the '90's, who found it amusing to give every geek and dweeb on the box the name "Martin" (hee hee).
BedsnHerts - aka Martin.
oh you are so hard done to and picked on.......
nigel (now theres a comedy name)
apologies for the ramble....i just love this hobby too much sometimes....lol....
Heh, we like rambles here - especially those that are insightful or just funny (and yours had a bit of both!). Fantastic pics of the 'reenactors'!
Nice pics Savoy
The first thing we all need to know is where the fella on the left got his Adrian helmet from....
Hey, I wanna play with Donald Sutherland and Richard Attenborough too.
I was an amusing rant, and mr Chomley is quite right in welcoming it.
in the bottom pic ,the guy in tan, with brit webbing and and water bottle, i have seen him somewhere before..................
ah yes, now i remember .
They really do look very, very, very crap.
Richard Attenborough? Looks more like Colonel Sanders to me! (Or should that be Colonel VON Sanders?).
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Some interesting kit those reenactors have. I'm not entirely sure what any of them are trying to be, with the exception of Santa.
nice rant well done sir i for one am still laughing
theres nowt so Permanent as temporary
I'd agree and I do both hobbies.
Have to say I've never understood not sharing information (even sometimes when I know its going to be used and they will take full credit for it which annoys me slightly, I still help ). Note in the UK you don't have to be "just" an airsofter to get stick from some re-enactors when trying to have mature discussion about things.... at which point I revert to airsofter and ponder how I can sts out of the annoying twonk (well ok there is just one atm but I've thought lots how I could get away with it, sadly I think the world and his mrs would guess it was me
)
Good post loved the pictures of prime examples of those sometimes that really should listen to what they say before opening their mouths
Is it just me, or...
Is it just me, or...
I almost spat my beer out when I read that! But do you think he's heard that the bird is the word?

I do believe you have it
I must say they are a bit of a motley crew.
What the hell is he? apart from being a rather rotund gent, that is.
savoy6 - quality ramble there. Put a right old grin on my face reading that
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
http://users.livejournal.com/_consume_/196545.html I found this mildly amusing, mainly at the point as you keep scrolling down and you see the cardboard vehicles
Savoy6, it seems clear that you need to get over and have a bash at one of our events.
The way the exchange rate is going you can probably do the whole thing for under $50.
