WW2 clobber tends to be very baggy so knee pads under clothing aren't even noticeable. I often use hidden knee and elbow protection on sites with hard terrain. I've also been known to use snowboarder body armour under a Knockensack when humping an MG42 around all day. Makes you look BUFF :D

Another option is to wear a sports knee brace, I used one on my fooked knee at a -10 battle at Matlock years ago and did the job a treat.

They keep the knee tight so the knee cap doesnt wander off and cant be seen, even with HBTs on.

fortunatley this forum seems to have a fair proportion of 40+ year olds with failing or damaged body parts compared to other airsoft sites where the average age is nearer 15 than 50
now if i could just ask if anybody else has tried to convert a gas mask pouch to take a colostomy bag :giggle:

I actually used to wear knee pads when I did modern airsoft, I even had shin guards.

I stopped though when I realised that the knee pads and shin guards were so tight that they were actually causing the pain in my legs not stopping it.

I now don't bother and don't have knee/shin problems at all.

Heh, Yith you just reminded me I did the same and I had the same problem in the old days - another bit of wasted cash! I have a tendency to pop my kneecaps to one side which is incredibly painful (and popping them back :x ) so I avoid kneeling now and sort of sit on my leg or arse instead - which looks a bit rubbish but meh.

Those sports knee brace Josh talks of look a much better solution than the airsoft 'bit of plastic with elastic/velcro straps' that I used. Pricey too I dare say but if you have dodgy knees and they work well then it's money well spent.

I'll definately be wearing some kind of 'low-profile' knee protection. Had my knee re-built after I tore my cruciate ligaments a few years back, theres still so much scar tissue that it hurts like hell if i kneel on something harder than earth!

i have a knee support its like a heavy weight tubygrip with a doenut shaped ring that goes around the kneecap, not to expensive and you can get them in most chemists ,it helps a lot and is almost invisible under trousers of any sort.

I use regular volleyball knee pads under the trousers. :) Also, i had foam knee pads integrated into my tailor-made soviet breeches.

Both my knees give me trouble, all those years of sanding and painting skirting boards
I use the neoprene knee supports and I'm very happy with them. Has anyone mounted an MG42 onto a zimmer frame yet?

Since kneeling hard on a pointy rock at the old F&O site I use some motorcycling knee protectors which chaff like hell after a day if you wear them too tight, but I discovered that they don't actually go anywhere if I wear the elastic straps quite loose under BD.

I couldn't help chuckling reading this thread, and I thought I was the only one. After playing the first Operation Brittany game, I realised my knees weren't quite as young as my somewhat adolesent mind. I bought a blue neoprene knee support from the Poundshop for the OK knee, and one of the more industrial doughnut types off ebay for the bad one (don't do the straps up too tight). They work a treat, you just have to put up with sweaty knees for the day. Poor old b*ggers!
