Aye, points taken Gadge - but in my suggestion, the main issue with the partisans is which side are they really on?
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
If we take the example of the raid to kill Tito by the Brandenburgers, there were partisans on both sides. Each 'side' of partisans could have their own objectives, and neither need be working for or against either side. Just a thought.
Sounds like a cracking idea and having crew would be a great way to play the scenario out. We’ve done a lot of crew based missions over the years and it means the player gets to knife kill in the dark or set the bomb under the car, even cut the wires on a security fence and crawl underneath and passed the security guard. I’ve got (as bloody always) a pile of civilian kit for 2ww, shirts, jackets, trousers, coats and waistcoats and hats to help bring a general populous to life! If you can collect or pay for DHL both ways you can borrow them!
Also got enough wild west kit to run high noon meets blazing saddles!…..x5

Personally I hate the idea of crewed games.
Of course, if you have civilian partisans on both sides it makes it much more interesting the suspension of disbelief isn't needed because they could actually be fighting for either side. Double agents are a real possibility.
Yeah but you stil have two big issues.
1) Germans consider anyone not German hostile and shoot them on site as the player knows no matter how hard he tries to pretend he doesnt that they are his opponents.
2) Everybody is really alert and expecting an attack, at least with crew they can be told to 'act dozy'
I really think its a good idea, something like the greek islands would be good where you have brandenburgers and SBS both trying to recruit different partisan factions

Re: 2) Well.... I take your point. However, the Commando raids in Stirling's Men were not just short sharp raids and then the Commandos went back to their own lines. Once the Germans knew they were about, they were constantly searching from village to village - so they were most alert.
Re: 1) The Germans surely wouldn't shoot all civvies / partisans, because some are fighting for them.

just picked up the book on the Jedboroughs-facinating stuff! 3 men in mix of Brit and American kit (British mainly excepting the boots and weapons), mixed nationalities trained to co-operate with the resistance....very many possibilities and on more on one occassion operated alongside SAS and SOE/OSS too...
Yup... I have some friends who's main impression for re-enactment is the Jedburgh's... its cool...
The SAS operations in Normandy were on a bigger scale altogether - just one individual group comprised 77 men and 18 officers. They were not only engaging in acts of sabotage, but more commonly just setting ambushes for the Wehrmacht.
The Wehrmacht themselves were also present in great strength, and not only rear-echelon troops: elite divisions such as SS Mountain Troops were brought in specifically to hunt down the SAS.
If the CiA top brass can nail down rules of engagement for the two opposing groups of partisans, I reckon we could have a cracking game. Say 20 regulars and 5 partisans per side.
As regards a cool-sounding name.... I would suggest one of the many "operations" that the Brits used - game on!!

You could always run your own game, then we could play!!!
Yup!

Well, I don't mind helping with the organisation and the plot. I certainly couldn't do it all on my own - bearing in mind that most CiA games were organised by 4-6 people. Also, I don't have a lot of experience of different sites, or contacts for them - but I'm sure between us we have that. OK - leave it with me. I shall draw up a more detailed proposal of the scenario and distribute to the top brass.

Yeah... well I'd be willing to help... would make sense as a PBI game...
You could organise it to be somewhere nearer your neck of the woods!
Now that is a good idea! Tell you what, Ground Zero is a massive site - that would be most suitable...
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
I like the idea of a CiA game for this. PBI rules me out.
Not necessarily... if we can work yank troops in then we will...
(alternatively you could buy some wool... )
Although a game based around the sas in NWE sort of rules out US infantry....

what about OSS? have a patch for them heh
Well, obviously nothing is set in stone yet, but I have submitted a first draft of rules, objectives and gameplay to HQ.

Only if you absolutely have to play US. As well as Brits and Germans, there'd be 2 sets of partizans to choose from too?
