Hello everyone,

I am trying to gauge the size of the WW2 airsoft scene in the midlands. I would like to find out if there are enough of us to maybe have a themed day at one of the midland sites as I am sure that owners would be more than happy to accommodate if the numbers where of suitable size.
I am based at Gunman midlands with the rest of the Irish Guard, plus members of the 47th Commando, a few dirty hun, and other with either allied or axis loadouts.
Would be good to get to play with and against other people in the area that are into WW2 soft so let us know and lets see what we can come up with.

While there are a fair amount of ww2 players in the midlands (myself included), there isn't really a 'midlands scene', as such. We just tend to travel to wherever there's an organised event, wherever in the country it is, the same as most other uk ww2 players.

Basically, have a look at the other events on here, you'll see the booked players are from all over the country, and even beyond!

I fully understand what you say, i have travelled to games for a few years now. what i am suggesting is somehow to help with getting those who struggle to get to these games on a regular basis whether its due to transport or the availability of time. and those of us who are just plain greedy and want to involve ourselves in this type of softing on a more regular basis cause the ammoun thta most of us put out on the loadout it just smacks a bit that they dont get used as often as some of us may like.

I've never seen you at a CiA, PBI, or Sandbox game though? Also, for those that struggle to get to games, there is always a "car sharing" thread, or people can ask for a lift. It's possible to get to a WW2 game pretty much every month, or at least every other month, if people really want to. Personally, I prefer quality over quantity. And, yes, I live in the midlands too! I'm not having a pop at you Bigkie, just saying how I see it personally.

Then again, I'd say that I am very prolific on the WW2 scene, and yet havn't made it to a single CiA, PBI or Sanbox game either...

I can vouch for bigkie, seen him at a few Gunman and other games.

I wasn't asking anyone to "vouch" for him, nor questioning him in any way, I was pointing out that it's perfectly possible to get to games wherever they are (and whomever runs them!).

Could've sworn you were at "In the Pocket" ? That was the first Sandbox game, I believe.

Yeah, I was at In The Pocket :)
I didn't realise it was a 'Sandbox' game, I just thought it was a "Doughboys"/"Webby's" game. :slap:

Because we were meant to run a desert game remember. lus it was meant to be more a more open & unpredictable style like a sandbox computer game.

Hey guys didnt want this to turn into any kind of pissing contest. lol. i fully understand that everyone has their own view and stance on this subject but just wanted to maybe start an idea where people will get together and have a laugh and in the fullness of it enhance the game play and general bond between all of us how are into this form of airsofting.

I think I get the gist of what you`re saying bk. I was thinking of putting specific area sections over on the Nam forum so people could meet up for open days in kit, meet up for a few pints on a social level or even to organise a local themed game. The cost of fuel to travel to games can be hard to justify for a hobby at the moment especially for people on low incomes or with a lot of outgoings, so the idea of an area specific loosely formed unit/group has merits. The problem I had was 'how to decide what constitutes a specific area ?', and 'how far to travel is too far ?' . I could do it by county and only create that section when two or more players ask for it but not sure if that a viable idea.

Thanks slick you nailed the idea I was suggesting. Just hope nobody is thinking I am trying to organise a game or group away from cia and trying to stamp on anyone's toes in anyway.

Loads of people already use the forum for organising games and groups apart from CiA, that's the idea of it, with it as a hub for the wider WW2 airsoft community, so, you're not stepping on anyone's toes. Quite the contrary in fact! CiA encourage other people and groups to put on games. That way, we can actually get out and play, rather than just organise. Also, there's a whole thread for people to say where they are from here viewtopic.php?f=28&t=192.

Also there's a whole forum section dedicated to getting wwii airsoft peeps to meet up at open days.

I'd be up for an impromtu meeting of midlands based airsofters though. If we descend on an open day somewhere, we can only raise the profile of WW2 airsoft as a whole! :good: Mind you, just as easy for a mass meeting at a CiA or Gunman bash too!

I like the sound of this idea alot, a local midlands game would be perfect for me due to travel issues (costs and distances - got a nice little yamaha bike now so my capabilities have improved but still can't get too far and don't want to bother people for lifts etc). I would definitely be up for it :)

Cheers

I'm more then willing to give you a lift as I'm from the Midlands besides it would be better for me as I hate travelling alone

Hey guys,

I had a word with the guys at gunman midlands over the weekend and have come up with the idea of getting some of us down on the 9th October. Probably go to the cqb side of the site. Should be quite good fun plus its my birthday the next day too so theres another reason.
I understand that this is the weekend after Devil's Hill so if anyone is interested let me know thanks.
