In the UK I played American, German inc SS and Brit. Here in NZ I have not played a game yet due to work! I have to say I am in a bother as to do my 1st game in German or Brit. I could not do Jap due to personal reasons and the fact that I am 6ft tall and putting on weight.....Mr cake said German was a no go due to his work, I can understand that, they play by different rules here as to work related and non work related items and will get rid of you without any question. What we consider as our private time in some bosses eyes is there time as well. In some companies if you cut your finger the blood has to pool in the shape of the company logo....

Lt. Morris Schaffer: "Second rate punk," eh?
Major John Smith: Sorry. All I could think of on the spur of the moment.
Lt. Morris Schaffer: Thanks, that makes it even worse.

glad i found this thread. I have been discussing airsoft in general at work and explaining the move into ww2. I had to explain the difference between a German soldier and a Nazis, as a lot of people have been surprised that you could buy and wear German uniforms regardless of what they were being used for and also a lot of people consider german and nazis to be one and the same (lack of education). once i had explained that in my eyes a German Heer soldier was just a man like any allied soldier and that a lot if not all of them were probably conscripted, also that i had a lot of respect for what the German Army (not the nazis) achieved against really overwhelming odds they better understood. BUT i did feel...emotionally.....against wearing a swartziga (cant even spell it) - and for the first time in my life the emotional reaction did not have a logical reason as to why, as this is re-enactment and not a polictical stand or show of support. therefore i would have to stear clear of the SS, even though i love their uniforms (that sounds wrong even saying it, almost oxymoronic).
this is my personal reaction and not something i would hold against someone else, who the hell am i to tell people what they can and cant do (within reason). this is a difficult issue and one not easily reconciled. hopefully time will allow me to rectify my thought process.
as for the Japs. sorry japanese - wouldnt even cross my mind to consider them.

£50 says that within a year you won't give a flying farq about wearing swastikas, SS runes or death's heads 8)

It's the result of a lifetime of conditioning. Most adults still believe you can catch a severe dose of Nazi just by owning anything like that :giggle:

I cannot do any of the foreign volunteer SS units, doubly so for Dutch volunteers. I do not have a particular problem with others portraying them as they were part of the war and as such have a place.

This is more a gut feeling than anything, but while I can sympathize with German young men to buy into Nazi propaganda and join the SS, I have none for the foreign volunteers. I feel they were traitors and I could not bring myself to try and accurately portray one.

i kind of agree about volunteer's to german army but most germans were conscripted so had no choice.
i still could not do japanese ,not for political or cultural reasons as they were as conditioned into a behaviour pattern as anybody else ,no i just could not do multiple "banzai!!!!!" charges as im not fit enough

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well
