I'll sort my hair out so that won't be a problem. The BFC thingy is coming off now. Well, after I stitch my insignia onto my new tunic
EDIT: Okay, because of the advice of the people here the BFC badge isn't on my uniform anymore. It'll probably rot in a drawer somewhere.
In lighter news my new uniform stuff arrived. Unterstumfuhrer on a M40 tunic with normal white cotton thread Eagles. Nice epulattes though those bug me when it comes to fitting them...
Will get some pictures when its done. though I have some Scharfuhrer tabs on a greatcoat. Might go for that
Excellent as i was going to say that for Freshman that you'd booked in as BFC patches wouldn't be allowed!
Long hair isnt an issue though one or two of our group conceal long hair very well.
One chap tend to put it in a high ponytail and under the headwear (shaving the back of the neck helps too) while mcVickers advocates a low ponytail, hair down the back of the tunic and sweatrag/scarf concealing the join.
Both work equally well, our chap did the Crich re-enactment show last year with his hair under his beret and *nobody* noticed.
Well, the BFC patch isn't an issue now. Plus I'm probably gonna go with my new tunic as a start. Low rank and all.
I'm gonna be in steel helm anyway so I'll sort out my hair for that. I do have a woolen grey scarf knocking about too.
BTW, I apologize for the problems I caused with that patch. Thanks for bringing it swiftly to my attention and stuffs. ![]()

In fairness its your hobby and there are far worse units you could have chosen, i think the general thought was that your choice would limit you from a lot of games/events rather than you'd caused massive offence.
Its hardly a sonderkommando impression or dirlwanger.

Ah now about the ones tied to that, I don't put any Totenkopf on my uniforms because I don't like the direct attribution to the Camps that ran. I mean yeah, swastikas are bad but thats more a general German WW2 as apposed to being linked specifically... but thats me. I'm weird. As for the limiting thing I think its just opened up a touch ![]()
@B &H - Correct - I should correct the statement to reflect more accurately what I wished to convey - Don't put collar insignia on a greatcoat.
There was an order which allowed patches and then there was a further order rescinding that and forbidding the use of collar patches. Same with greatcoats. You CAN see cufftitles on some but not the majority. Keeping a great coat plain makes it more versatile for our purposes..... Rank was often displayed on Shoulder boards.
231.Collar patches on the greatcoatcollar.
The Reichsfuhrer-SS has ordered the collar patches will be worn on the greatcoat collar, as well as on the blouse, by all units of WAFFEN-SS,
Collar patches must be put on immediately. The removal of collar patches for the reasons of camouflage may only be authorised by the Reichsfuhrer-SS
169. The wearing of collar patches on the greatcoat
With the immediate, affect, and by the order of RFSS,The wearing of the collar patches on the greatcoat must cease untill further notice because of shortage of raw materials. For the sake of uniformaty, this order does not only apply to the manufacture of new collar patches for greatcoats, but those already on greatcoats must be removed and used elsewhere.....................................
37.The wearing of collar patches on the greatcoat collar
The Reichsfuhrer-SS.
follownig the published order in the V.BI.d.W.-SS,NO.11of 1st June 1942,concerning the wearing of collar patches on the greatcoat, it is orderd that the collar patches will be worn...........................
2. The wearing of collar patches on the greatcoat
1.itam[ziffer] 37of the V.BI.d.W-SS,NO3of the 1st feb 1943 is here by amended.
2.on the grounds of shortage of raw materials collar patches and the cuff -band will not in future be worn on issue greatcoats
3. Collar pastches and cuff bands may continue to be worn on all private gratcoats.
4. In the Allgemeine-SS,collar patches and cuff bands will continue to be worn on all greatcoats.
to summarise, those possessing there own private greatcoats could continue wearing collar patches, but issue greatcoats were to have the collar patches removed prior to issue, and were to be worn without insignia, with the exception of shoulder straps.

Me in my Jedburgh kit (US Operator)

looking to get a commando bergen to finish the look off.
You can't see from the pic, but I'm wearing my M43 jacket underneath the Denison, and a US officer's shirt underneath that! I was fairly warm lol

Thats awesome kit webby! Loving the Mosin-Nagant. And the SMG, what is it?

Looks like an M1A1 carbine to me.
Very nice webby! What kind of carbine is it? Customized Marushin?
I guess this picture was among your inspirations

working towards that yeah Glenlivet!
It's a Marushin M1 Carbine (single action) 8mm jobby.

Very cool impressions, just working on getting my Great Patriotic War Russian kit from Trident. Still have to get my PPsh41 at somepoint though!

Looks very nice Angel!
You'll never find a pair of ammo pouches... I think all mine are different and I have quite a few! ![]()
If you can get the green stuff off the entrenching tool handle that'll improve it as well. I'm pretty sure the green is a post war mod. Of course it may not be possible! I know it can be hard to find decent entrenching tool handles these days.
Perhaps a pic of the dodgy skeleton cover will help identify the problem?
I just noticed one small thing... where the x-straps attach to the entrenching tool cover, they're going in the wrong way into the buckles. The open part of the buckle should always be towards the end of the strap it attaches to... Doing this will mean the straps go down the back of the entrenching too making it slightly neater. A minor point and lost on most people, but thought I'd mention it as it's such a good set otherwise! ![]()

A slight aside. I bought a black cab off a retiring cabbie in Shrewsbury a few years ago. He had left a large stick under his seat (which he described as his 'persuader' for those trying to dodge fares). Blimey i've just realised it must be an entrenching tool handle - I've been trying to work out what it was for years.
Thanks all.
I'm a hero with coward's legs.

Yeah I thought the green would be hard to remove!
Good piccy there Angel. Nelson should be doing photos again at Brittany so you should have some more to the collection after that. Have you finally lost the lip piercing now?

Very authentic looking photo, Angel - nice one. ![]()

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier

Took my Late War, US Army impression for a spin today at a local game. Just got the loadout from SOF (well, the M43 uniform and buckle boot tops!)
Kit list: M43 Uniform, Airborne gloves, US Army scarf, Buckle boots, BAR belt, M1 steel pot and netting + Jeep cap and a VFC BAR.

Very nice Beastor!!

Great looking pic, the middle one. Does the webbing look a bit yellow or is it just the effects you've put the picture? Amazing gun, wish I could afford one...waiting for the Chinese one to come out. Is it a late war Airborne loadout? Or just regular army?
Show me a man who will jump out of an airplane, and I'll show you a man who will fight!

Is it a late war Airborne loadout? Or just regular army?
Could be either! That's the beauty of "unbadged". Nice BAR too!
