me doing my Clint Eastwood squint

I'd say it's less of an Eastwood and more of a 'did I remember to turn the oven off' squint. :giggle: Nice pic though.

Big shiny Polish hat!

That is a Big Shiny (Polish) Hat, makes Soviet ones seem almost sensible. Well maybe not the huge later models, they're just daft.

Spot on, there are obviously a large array of extras that you could get, but all are unnecessary and not at all required. I would be happy with that as a US Airborne impression.

Things to consider to expand your collection should you chose to at a later date:

M3 knife
Felt pads underneath your harness straps.
Fake Pineapple grenades hanging from the D-rings on your suspenders
Airborne 1st Aid pouch

Utterly pointless Items (good for collecting/utterly pointless in airsoft):

Drop down rope
Rubberised Gas mask bag
Wrist Compass
Cricket
Parachute pack + Reserve chute
Mae West Life Vest
MKII Griswold Bag for your M1 Garand.

:good:

Errr thanks Webby haha

Incidentally, roll your sleeves down soldier (and collar)! This isn't the Marines!

Couple of things, leather chin strap, A frames and parachute chin strap possibly, for helmet. Go and jump in a big pile of mud and crawl round in dirt etc, it looks a bit clean, dirt, grease and oil also add to the effect.

But M3 knife with M6 scabbard is a good idea...

Cricket

I object on that one. We used our crickets intensivly during our D-Day skirm at night (completely clouded night with less then 10 meters of visibility) where we were dropped in small groups all around the playing field, full with Germans ;)

And yes, crickets do work both ways 8-)

Here my latest Kit Pic as a 101st Airborne, 326th Engineer:

Not seen on this picture: folding shovel, canteen, first aid kit, small rigger pouch, musette bag, pliers + pouch and a wire cutter + pouch.

Fair play if it was combat related scruffiness, we at Dog Company excel at it (combat related scruffiness that is) haha. Regarding the Para chin strap and leather chin strap, the paratrooper strap completes the helmet as they were in fact different from normal M1 helmets. We don’t wear them done up, so that your head is strapped in to the helmet tighter than a ducks arse, just let the chin strap dangle down by your face.
And the leather chinstrap that I referred to is actually the one that sits over the brow of the helmet and was to keep the inner and outer parts of the helmet together, it was in fact not required, nevertheless the green canvas one which you have is a post war/ dutch version of the ‘chinstrap.’ Glad to hear that the uniform is a bit dirtier now…

Otherwise, good lookin’ kit, keep it up…

Paratrooper chinstrap sits as so dangling from left or right side of helmet, depending on your preference…

Yeah or tucked in like I do if it gets on your nerves :)

Crickets? I've had on in the neck pocket of my M42 for about 4 years and never used it in an airsoft game (may be the only one who carries it around actually)

@ Alex, yes a Mae West and Gas mask bag are utterly pointless for an airsoft game and not necessary for a good base impression, however, like you and I we have chosen to expand our collection to include the more fancy items ;) :good:

@ Sivebaek, I have a number of Rubber M1 Bayonets, but no sheaths available :)

Yeh you could tuck it up so it doesn’t whip you in the face but I do maintain it’s aesthetically quite a good and important piece of kit.

I also carry my cricket in the pocket of my M42’s which is supposed to be for a small knife but like you said never personally used it in an airsoft game although I have been around when someone has tried using it…needless to say it didn’t work and we ended up whistling to get their attention.

Yeh the Mae West and gas mask bag are utterly pointless…but they look awesome! Gas mask bag isn’t AS utterly pointless as the Mae West though, paratroopers used them to carry extra food and ammunition (and occasionally beer) rather than actually carrying a gas mask. So can be used for storage obviously…

Regarding the rubber bayonets…was under the impression that the sheathes weren’t hard to get hold off?

Yur, my suggestion would be to buy a real steel one in the sheeth, then put the rubber one in. The Rubber ones can go on when you're playing, real steel for show or whatever!

Yeah I use my Para lid's chin-cup for protecting my teeth when in close quarters with Jerry

I know someone at Gunman who does that now because he got shot in one of his front teeth and knocked it clean out...one trip to an emergency dentist later it was back in but all grey and discoloured now.
