... put another coat of polish on my jackboots and dubbin on my short boots. Tell you what, it's a great day for it - the sun melts the dubbin and it soaks in nicely. 8)

Now to sew on my HG collar tabs...

Pfft, I climbed a Welsh mountain for charity with a Pole and two Germans.

In a WW2 context it could have been quite surreal....otherwise it was lovely.

Pics to follow.

I've been at a homefront event (1940) in East Yorkshire all weekend, and despite lots of rain on and off (and some hail) the sun must have shone as me and the short stop have rosy cheeks (face tyvm). I've even learned the "stroll" 8)

yeah , truck was used at a modern event.

sorted my zelt tent (nearly)

Zelts now waterproofed, rope loops added, four guy ropes made, tent pegs made (a cross between the very early stick with pin and later alloy - using modern Brit IPK pegs with bent nails  ). Just the poles to sort (I'm going to have 3 long broom handles rather than sections). It's all buttoned together ready to rapidly throw up - so now ready for Haggard. I'll have the two man tent as well - if I'm not brave enough to sleep in the zelt I'll use it for equipment store instead!

BTW, brown jute sash cord makes a good substitute for the original rope

Heh, I won the bet with myself someone picking up on that - but at shortened odds because I wasn't expecting it to come from McV!
