Not today; but yesterday.
Me and Kraut went cycling in The Hurtgenwald, 45kms. Of which 22.5km went up and the others went down.
Seen a lot of bunkers, trenches, commandpost-holes and other WW2 remains.
would be good to see some pics next time your out there?

We went lightweight and on our ATB's. So didn't brought a camera this time during the cycling. Maybe next time.
But, here some pictures we made 1.5years ago (we went by car) in the same area: http://www.ww2airsoft.eu/media/thumbnai ... =18&page=1
In the pics where you see us cooking: we are in one of the larger 'holes' dug during WW2. Don't mind 'the other' pictures
This weekend I have been wearing in my new boots by walking to the shops, wearing them around the house and doing the gardening in them.
I have also spent about three hours trying on various permutations of German load bearing equipment in preparation for Volturno. Main aims are:
i) to carry a lot more water than at Hauptmann Horn and Il Gigio
ii) easy access to my sandwiches.
An army marches on its stomach!

..made a cast iron open fire cooking tripod for Flying Lead. It'll also be fine for ww2 stuff, too.
...removed the last of the tied-in bricks from a wall in our house where we removed a redundant chimney breast,
...rebuilt the corner of the back garden fence and topped it with as much barbed-wire coils to make PoW camp feel insecure,
...fitted a new coatrack/hat-shelf combination thing to our front hallway - there's already a 2 greatcoats, a top hat and an NVA "mushroom" helmet on it,
...fitted my new barrel (PSG + internal silencer type - longest standard barrel avaliable!)to my Vickers!

...Saw what i believe was a spitfire flying around (well it was either a spitfire or a hurricane) whilst walking my dog. It was flying and doing tricks over Lord Suffolk's estate, close to where I live. It did plenty of low passes overhead me to turn back over the estate. I was just in awe of it, as it's been years since i've seen a flying one up as close as I did today.
finished stripping the paint of my mp40 and cold blueing it,so mutch work on sutch a little amount of paint but the results are stunning if i do say so myself

Started work on my Kriegsmarine Coastal Artillery tunic.
Transferred the 12 original [rather expensive now] buttons that I had on my U-boat denims to the tunic.
Who knew the Küstenartillerie buttons were subtly different from all other KM buttons?
This left the U-boat denims without buttons. I found some gold coloured ones of the right size and painted those. [They were repros] First grey primer then a greenish tan to match the originals as best I could. I baked the paint on in a small oven and gave them a black wash to fit with the general grubby nature of the denims.
Sewing and bevo folding starts tomorrow.

And exactly what size BB's are you planning on using in your Coastal Artillery?
88mm, of course. You don't get many in a bottle, though.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Got all the wood and metal furniture I need for my weapon crate

I think its somewhere in the forum rules that you have to be able to identify the difference between a Hurricane and a Spitfire. Incidentally its probably a Spitfire.

Thanks mate. Only problem is, if I get it, I'll have far less free time (the wife already moans about how much time I spend away wild camping and "playing soldiers"). Never mind, a 10 grand a year pay rise might shut her up!
