I certainely know what you mean angel!
Got back from a long weekend in Berlin. Unfortantely my flea market plans were scuppered by the large number of Christmas markets I got dragged around. I managed to endure through the consumption of copious amounts of Gluhvine, giant steaks and half meter bratwursts. ![]()

Well done.
As for usefulness - It's not something everyone has, and could be useful in alternative employment, if you need it.
Made a start on sanding down my K98 stock.

...got through day one of not smoking

Yay, Jimbo.
Think of all the kit you can buy with the money saved!

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
I must admit money is the main motivation, my health coming second. Thanks ![]()

good on ya
Im gonna try an quit after the new year
make an appointment with my doc
Do it fella, after 30 years of smoking I just dont want to give the government any more easy tax money. Doctors are a big help.

been smoking nearly 30 years myself, so really need to quit em for good
Started my get fit program, joined a gym and just digging out the details of the diet I went on last time I managed to lose a lot of weight.
@ Zero Bravo & rammix, a little tip that helped me stop smoking, every week put the cash you would have spent on cigarettes in to a pot, it's amazing how quickly it fills up and it's a very good incentive to keep going when you realise how much you've been setting fire to.

good idea that
cheers
would put it to a family day out at least once a month the amount that goes up in flames
No chance the wife would nick it lol

Today I had a rather emotional reunion with my father brother and his wife
Not seen them since dad died about 20 years ago, anyway Uncle Alan was a Daimler Armoured car crewman and showed me his photo album of his army days... some bloody awesome pics of vintage kit, ruined berlin, the soviets etc etc.
He also showed me some pics of my great grandfather who was a pre wwi south stafford, left the amry before wwi then returned to the colours the day war broke out as he hated being a civilian.
He served in the east and apparently quite enjoyed shooting turks' obviously he wasnt that PC...
I mentioned to my uncles that I collected militaria and he went into the garage and came back with this..
a 1915 sword bayonet (frog is a wwii one made in 1941 he put on later)....

The blade looks to be dated "1913" or "1943" to me?
Great that you got to talk to lost relatives after so many years. It's always lovely to see period photos, especially if they contain family members and the things they themselves encountered!

It reads:
1913
12 15
Remington
I think that's for a P14 Enfield - 1913 pattern bayonet made in December 1915. I don't think they were common issue in WWI.

I have a small skewer hidden in the collar of my jumping jacket, and a razorblade in my gaiter, as well as my knife.
That sends shivers up the spine.
Tragic that it was so close to the end of the war.
