Spent about 2 hours farted around with my P38 to try and get it to shoot right. Stripped it, clean it, tried mulitple ammo weights, fiddled around with the hop. End result- no difference. Hop adjustment seems to have no effect and the best ammo was what I was using already. :slap:

One mag is acting up though, ie it won't cycle the action properly most of the time. If I cock it manually the gun shoots great but it won't load the next round. The other mag works fine. Will have to have a look at it tomorrow.

The same happened to one of my P38 mags. I had to use a needle file to file out the feed tube and feed lip slightly.

Hehe, sorry, had to get three hours sleep on a proper bed! One idea was to use a pump off a bouncy castle and by using a greater air pressure inside the tent that the outside the tent will keep its shape and stay upright.
The more practical idea was simple - use four long rigid poles running from the four corners, along the angle, to meet at the apex. I think it will work!

Well, Chommers - any progress??

LOL, I was told it has been done before, so the theory is fine!

Never mind the theory! Is a Zelt tent long enough for a 6 foot man to lie in if your modification is done?

That would be no problem as you can lie diagonally without the centre pole. Unless you have a high camp bed.

...nearly bought two British 1940 dated 'Type F Mk I' field telephones for £60 for both of them. Showing their age, but totally complete, undamaged and unmolested. Am I a fool to have not bought them? What's their going price these days?

My pair cost me £40, but were refurbed post war so have post war dates on them. I'm convinced that they are not actually post war phones.

All they needed to get the working was some batteries, they even came with cable.

Batteries were sorted by two D cells in each one in a battery box thing.

They work perfectly as people at PBI events will have noticed.

They're called anklets, not leggings or gaiters. :)

Anyway, good stuff on the polishing! I'm not done mine yet, I've got a Chindit event first.

Good wasnt it, i think i came back with about £500 worth of kids for just over a hundred. I found being a trader there meant that nearly everything i bought was further discounted.

Bloody hell, don't know whether to congratulate or commiserate!

Saw a shed load of stuff at Beltring that I wanted or at least love to have (but didn't need). But with a with a long-term-not-fritter head on I just made two purchases - one of which will be seen at Crich, the other at Victory Show. 8)

...went to Beltring (was to be posted Sat', but couldn't due to server downage) and bought two Type F MkIIs for £10 for both! They work lovely too :D Also picked up three Vickers ammo belts (£5 each), two Mk2 Brit helmet straps (£3 each), an unmolested early war Brit Mk2 helmet to use as a reference for the light brown paint colour and a some more odds-and-sods. Had a great time.
