Today I headbutted a wall trying to find a way to search for 'Polish buttons' (as in buttons from or in some way to do with Poland) and 'polish buttons' (as in make any button shiny).

grrrrrr.

Just went on another demoralizing jaunt to my local surplus store. Picked up a thermal top.

I did yes, and it was the most useful of the typing options.

Polished my Corcorans...and that isn't something that they do in Poland as far as I know.

Picked up my PPsh from AW, then sanded off that god awful shiney varnish and restained with slightly darker stuff that has a lovely matt finish. Also gave the metalwork a light going over to kick start the ageing process.

Nice, you jammy git! How about a review?

By the way, most of the real PPSH stocks I've seen are covered in shellac, even thicker, shinier and nastier than varnish!

Will have a bash at a review tommorow.

As for the nasty finish, I know the way it comes is actually quite close in colour and finish to the real thing of the period, but I just can't bare to look at it!

Applied dubbin to 4 pairs of boots, tried to fix 2 BF pistols[failed] and negotiated the purchase of a kdf replica.
