I know that UKARA membership requires you to do 3 events in 2 months, which is fair enough because it keeps anyone out who isn't serious about the hobby. However, does it have to be at the exact same site all 3 times? The same group? Doesn't that mean I am dependent on borrowing weapons until I am a member and have my own? Are there any places where WW2 events happen regularly? A lot of questions I know, but I am finding it difficult to find a particular site which can meet this requirement. Any help would be excellent
Three open days at a single site will get you UKARA membership, I believe.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
That's correct. You should get a membership form from the site, which you get signed each time you go. Once you've got your three, you normally have to pay a small fee and then you're a member of that site. They will then give you a form which you need to send to UKARA to put you on the database.
Well that's how it worked for me anyway.
It's 3 times in not less than 2 months, I got my UKARA through Gunman, as it turned out I did the 3 required games all at the Eversly site but I'm sure it would be ok if you did 3 with Gunman at different sites, obviously it would be a good idea to check with Josh to make sure.

Ah must have somewhat misread the criteria concerning months, thankyou.
Thanks for the info guys, I think I will give Gunman a shot and see what he thinks too
Wont you have to show the 'national reenactor site' that you are a valid and suitable member for them to take onto their books?

When the VCRA came in there was a lot of confusion about the attendance requirements. Some sites decided it was 3 trips in 2 months or less (funny that!) whereas it is actually 3 in not less than two months.
For a site to register you it all needs to be at the same site.

For 'site' read 'airsoft organiser/club that holds appropriate insurance' - that organiser may have many sites!
And yes, the law doesn't dictate UKARA as the sole means to prove you are an 'airsoft skirmisher'. Your Ground Zero comment illustrates this. For example, if I attend an airsoft event with you then I know 100% that you are an airsoft skirmisher and it is more than likely I'll be happy to sell you a RIF (heh, I retain the right to refuse too!). This IS potentially tricky - should there be a problem down the line (say you were a tit using a RIF where you shouldn't, were collared and had your house searched and many RIFs found and enquiries were made where you obtained them) then it may mean as a supplier I have to explain my actions in statement or in court, not something I relish. So, many clubs that sell RIFs may well take the same view and so doing without the UKARA thing on that occasion.
Where UKARA (or other valid certified/documented means of proving your exemption -reenactor/airsoft skirmisher) comes in handy is buying RIF from someone you don't know - a UK or overseas retailer or secondhand from forums, for example.
So while the VCRA might make things difficult to buy IF/RIFs it hasn't made things impossible - and there is no need to look for 'loopholes' or break the spirit of the law or put other people in legally difficult positions. It's proved over the last six years to be a working & practical law that prevents anyone buying RIFs (not without consequences - harmless gun collectors have had their hobby effectively stopped) yet allowed those with a valid reason to continue. Work with the system!
Gunman Memebrship is MAKE THREE''GAMES' in a year. A weekend = 2 days to get basic membership.
UKARA = 3 games in NO LESS THAN 2 months, however, if you have a club membership you qualify for UKARA. Its a mad bag of cats and im happy to give GUNMAN membership to anyone that supports 3 of my games in a year which = UKARA.
Dont stress the ins and outs, I can sell a new rifle to a new player on their first game if I wished as I operate my own sites, have 3rd party insurance and can prove im selling the rifle for the purpose of airsoft...however, I dont! As CW says, I still operate in the 'Spirit' of UKARA.
You can always rent rifles if needed or even borrow them off other players

Brilliant, I think Gunman is the way forward so I will look to booking some more events. Great feedback!
