All

Steve Ashworth (SgtAsh) has just let me know that some low life has broken in to his car and nicked his newly aquired VFC BAR! They left everything else (jacket, trainers, iPod, expensive head unit) and just made off with the BAR! It all looks a little odd and would suggest a targetted hit! The police have been informed and may bother to turn up and investigate - apparently they weren't impressed that he'd left a RIF in his car, despite it being in a gun slip and covered up.

If anyone gets offered or sees such a weapon for sale (they didn't take the mags, so I doubt it'll be offered with any), please let me or Steve know.

Steve had only just collected it (from Aim), so he's a little gutted to say the least. Thieving sroats should publically have their hands removed with a very blunt, rusty saw!

Thieving bastards

I'll keep an eye out. Any recognizable traits on the BAR? (except that it's a rare-as-heck item). Things like a serial number?

Not sure - only had a brief conversation with Steve and he sounded like he was still in shock and was waiting for the Police to get back to him - I'm guessing they'll be wanting a close look at his other RIFs at the same time. I'll get hold of him later and get some more info, but he'd had it less than a day, so I doubt he'll know much about it.

Part of me says it was an opportune hit after they say the coat it was hidden under, but as there was no alarm I can't understand why they didn't go for the stuff that they could sell on easier - just waiting for the news of an armed robbery in Hereford using a WW2 BAR! Although I'm not sure they'd get away with in Hereford - too many current and ex Desmonds kicking around

Ah, but do they know the colour of the boat house in Hearford?

That's terrible news. If he tells the police he just picked it up they will probably want to know what his defence is to buy an item so he'd better make sure that's available.

If you haven't already you should also post this on Arnie's and ASCUK.

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

Hi Guys
Steve has just phoned me to tell me the bad news ( i don’t know what to say really) other than when he left me the BAR was in the boot of his car, unfortunately there are no marks on the BAR its self, but the mags are marked " AI" .
The BAR does come with the carry handle attached, but the bi pod was in a box along with the mags

Was this over night?
If so I would never leave something like that in your car over night parked outside. I suppose that is what the police would get annoyed about.

Bad news though!

Thanks Nige!

I had the 1st one in the country unfortunately, and up until lightening have been trying to get it working since!

Sorry to hear about the theft, I'm actually looking to get some more mags for mine, if I notice any that come back with 'AI' written on them, I'll keep you informed and start the paper trail.

Didn't want to bring this up before as I didn't want to seem unsympathetic, but if you don't get your BAR back I'm also in the market for some more mags, also I believe the bipod wasn't taken and I'm after one for mine, I know it's small consolation but at least you'd get some of your money back.

Sorry Steve  I wouldn't have said anything if it hadn't been suggested that you might be selling the mags, as I said before I do hope you get yours back, preferably found in the hands of the scrot who nicked it who somehow managed to mysteriously fall head first into a bear trap
