. my favourite would be brit airborne but its too expensive to do it justice.

Depends where you're buying it from.

Spearhead para trousers - £45
Rangercamp Denison - £99
Maroon Beret - £10
37 Pattern belt and Gaiters - £10

Thats if you wanted to be stitch counter perfect, buy brand new stuff and its still less than £200, you could probably do it for less than £100 with a replicators denison and denims etc...

Its not that expensive if you shop about.

most expensive bit of brit kit (try saying that drunk) was my para smock wchich was £120, but i could've gotten a cheaper one elsewhere, other than that, got a few bits and bobs from SoF - namely a pistol holster, beret and some straps, for about 30-40 ish, and the rest i picked up from saber sales in portsmouth for well under £80 - inc trousers gaiters, the rest of the patt 37 webbing (2x sten mag puches, belt, x-frame straps, water bottle etc), a kit bag for it all to go in, a civillian issue respirator with bag, also managed to get a leather jerkin with origional brass buttons for £20 there as well, just gotta be prepared to hunt for the gear in there.

and after all that, i played one game as a german and now im between a rock and a hard place as to which side to play on, allies-cuase ive got all the kit and guns, or german cuase ive got the guns, and the kits so so nice and easy to get hold of!? hmm its a toughy!

anyway, hope this helps mate!

All good.

but...

Brass buttons on a Leather Jerkin? Are they lions? If so, then its a post war Belgian one.

The British ones had plain brown 4 hole plastic buttons on them. I'd change them over if I were you.

What make is the denison you got for £120?

Note to newbies:

Don't take this post to heart. Some people like to receive advice on the accuracy of their kit. Don't worry about the level of kit you need to attend a CiA airsoft game, the rules really aren't that strict. Most of us really couldn't give a hoot whether you have plastic buttons on your jerkin or brass ones embossed with the face of Michael Portillo. It really isn't that important. ;)

My comment on that is... how much do a few buttons cost... pennies.

If improving your impression costs pennies... do it if you can! :)

I never said that the jerkin was unusable as it was nor that he was a bad boy for using it even with the buttons changed.

I was also helping him with identification. He'd clearly been told that the jerkin was original... If it has the brass lion buttons on then its not original WW2 British.

Yes, but there have been a quite few threads about perceived persnicketiness and I wanted to ensure that people aren't put off wearing the most basic kit they can manage, regardless of cost.

LOL, psycho said 'a leather jerkin with original brass buttons' which is a correct description for a 1950's Belgian jerkin so on that statement he wasn't miss-sold. Unless the seller said it was an original WW2 British jerkin...

Now, that's picky persnicketiness!

yup... original Belgian 50s, not original WW2 british..

I don't think he was miss-sold it either... I just wanted to make it clear what it is

It could actually be a proper WW2 jerkin with GS buttons on it... a strange thing to do, but could happen. But if it has Lions then we know from our own experiences that its probably Belgian...

Which makes it still very much useful for a Brit impression, but better with plastic buttons sewn on...

ffs guys I was just trying to help!

Given that the nature of the thread at the moment was getting a cheap accurate brit loadout then I dont think it was too out of order suggesting a cheap button change...

By all means, cut, delete, or shift it to the PBI section where we can help someone with their kit there eh?

It'd better in the Brit section as Psycho isn't a member of PBI yet and hence won't be able to post.

Heavens.

There's nothing wrong with Rich's post, I just didn't want people to be put off by it. We're always, and I do mean always, getting told that we are becoming too elite with kit restrictions, or that people perceive us to be so, even if we're not. Hell, someone almost didn't book onto our December game because they thought they needed the correct boots.

I just wanted to reassure people that, regardless of a little stitch-counting (or rather button), of which we're all guilty, basic kit impressions are still acceptable.

:good:

Where would I buy a set of buttons with lions wearing the face of Michael Portillo?
