Now that I'm literally weeks away from finishing my US inf impression to a level I'm pretty happy with, my thoughts are turning to ever more contrived ways to make it even more believeable. Maybe I'm a masochist.
As a smoker, I'm looking for the item that will really ring true with the average US infantryman in Normandy; the Lucky Strike cigarette. I already smoke this brand and prefer them (despite the price), but what I'm really after is the packet. As far as I can see in photos and movies, they're contained within a short 'softpack', being without filters. Chappell had some very nice looking Kraut cigs in a period packet at D-Day, and I'd like to go for the same effect. The question is, where would I find them? Is it possible to make the packs (not preferable)?
Help appreciated. ![]()

quick look on ebay found these:

Two and a half of your english pounds for two packs. What's that, about thirty dollars at the current exchange rate? ![]()
You bloody legend DM!!! That's excatly what I'm looking for.
Don't get ebay at work (hence I didn't check there), but I'll be straight on there when I get home.

I'm fairly handy at repro'ing stuff, and it's an easy design, but for that price, it's hardly worth loading up photoshop and switching the printer on. ![]()
Alternatively wrap a modern soft pack in this:

Alternatively wrap a modern soft pack in this:
yeah, i saw those, but they're £4 +p+P for just the labels, the other ones are cheaper and you get two designs.
So the packs don't have cigs in them (can't look at ebay)? Even if it's just the packs, that's a sweet deal.

DM's are pre-made dummy packs and are a UK auction with 4.5 days left on it, current price £2.50, no buy it now option.
My link are two wrappers to make up and wrap around a modern pack. US auction with a Buy It Now option for $7.99, they ship worldwide.
S

I carry a pack of Lucky Strikes on me!
However, no need to pay for it - PDFs are available from the Hardscrabblefarm site.
You want the white packs as war versions - the green ink was removed to help the war effort (PR puff I'm sure!)

Friend of mine just cuts the filters off the current lucky strikes and smokes them that way.
I'm not much of a smoker myself. A cigar now and then. Though for WW1 I think I'll get a
period looking pipe.

That's what I intended to do, just with a period packet to shake them out of! ![]()
Thanks for the advice everyone, I'll see what I come up with and let you know. Hey, you may even get offered a lucky from me...

I think that hardscrabble link has Luckies and Camels-just print and stick over a soft pack.
I love modern Luckies myself but without a filter-NO WAY
Cut them down from the tip then roll a rizla around the smoke to hide the filter ![]()
LOL. My pack contains balswood sicks covered in rizla with the ends brown felt tipped. I often offer them to unsuspecting smokers, burning balsa doesn't taste as good as Virginia apparently
Modern ciggies are much thicker than WW2 ones ...

Well, I'm bidding anyway - if that fails I'll buy the labels. ![]()

Scheeesh, print 'em out yourself!

Couldn't find them on hardscrabble. ![]()

You'll find a few PDFs here, including lucky's
