Rather than grinding up cat litter why not just buy a small bag of plaster? Going to do some test explosions on Sunday but I think plaster or even filler would be a good safe option. The detonation of flour etc does have the potential to be dangerous in a confined space but I doubt that in the open there would be any danger.

OK Pioneer Box done. Full with 8 charges that will go bang (3 spoons of Strong white organic breadmaking flour!!) 1 charge which is fake with the striker fuse. Not heavy for you pioneer crew
