IED's Hay on Wye site

Date: Early April, after clocks have gone forward, well before Easter.

Game scenario: Early war

Just spoken to Guy and he suggested German attempted re-capture of Rudolph Hess. A sort of Eagle has Landed in reverse. I like this idea a LOT - plenty of possibilities for Allies (HG, local garrison, some kilts, even civilians). Guy's idea so I'll let him expound on it further...

Easter Sunday is April 24th, so plenty of time at the start of the month.

Guy has confirmed availability of site for us - we just need to tie down a date.

Can I propose we go for the weekend of 9th/10th April?

It might help if you post dates when you are/are not available Pete, its a nightmare trying to hit a target otherwise - same for you Stephen. I'm easy, I work my life around Comrades in Arms!

I wish I had that luxury!

Ok, weekends free for me for March/April are:-

19/20 March (with a 1700hrs finish on 18th).
2/3 April (with a 1700hrs finish on 1st).
16/17 April (with a 1700hrs finish on 15th).
30th/1st May (with a 1300hrs finish on 29th).

Cool.

Well, 30th/1st May is out as it is a bank holiday weekend and there is a show on.
16/17 April is the weekend before Easter
2/3 April clashes with an event but only likely to lose two players
March has a Gunman event

All in all it looks like 2nd / 3rd April is the only viable option.
This is fine with me and Pete then. Jay, Stephen, Guy?

No problems with any of those dates for me...

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

1980's STV production. Tells the story well enough - with the help of comedy eyebrows.

Unsolved Mysteries - WORLD WAR 2 - The Riddle of Rudolph Hess
The last reel actually mentions SS landing in London to recapture Hess - we don't have a London setting but no reason why it can't have happened anywhere else but has yet to be revealed. Game day Saturday could be set around Hess's landing, arrest and initial movements, game day Sunday could be a later location (Hess stayed in Wales and Cornwall as well as Tower of London and Mytchett)

initial thoughts so far

April/May 1941

Hess, (cw) is let loose in the site to captured by land girls/ farmers/civies (exact number TBC) . It will be odd in that he want to be captured so he can do his mission of contacting Nazi sympathisers and conclude a peace. The civvies could be Brit players who play civvy on Saturday and regualr Army on the sunday or we could keep the role play up all weekend .

Meanwhile a Skorezeny esque raid group of forces is sent to recover him . These CW will be looking to avoid , although maybe on Day 2 he'll have changed his mind .

Throw in the odd turn coat civvy , some roleplay, a chance for a Home Guard outfit which they are all on about , maybe a few Germans wearing Denisons, it'll be a good un .

Need to see the site first though, although I'm told there's a dissused Farm to be used as well !

Any news on this?

I'm pretty much committed to something every weekend between now and Christmas so may not be able to make it though.
