Guy's plans are attached
Smashing! Nice and simple and lots of opportunity for the story to develop on the day.
Some additions and revisions.
I won't be bringing my tent - it would look stupid anyway.
Don't give pyro to players, its a waste of money and frankly lobbing grenades around is a bit daft for this scenario. Grenades generally are a waste of time out doors, no one knows a kill distance and it wipes out any medic opportunity.
I've done some more road direction signs as they have been depleted. I've also done a load of 'home front' posters which can be pinned to barns/trees etc as set dressing. I'll also bring a couple of Brit flags.
We need to add medic bandages to the list.
The British commanders don't have a problem as they can do drilling and patrolling etc. I'll set off a large bang and smokes at 1.15 to indicated the plane crash, somewhere near will be a parachute. If search parties don't find me by 2pm then I'll hand myself in, one way or another.
So, this leaves a potential two hours in which 20 Germans have to remain undiscovered. It will be rubbish if alarms are called and patrols are sent out to investigate German invaders before Hess has even crashed or even been discovered. So, the question is what will you be doing with them - airsofters won't keep still and hide for two hours (yes, you can do obs for a bit)! Suggestions: firstly, German paras dropped guns by container rather than on the person - that container of guns must be found first else they are unarmed (OK, it isn't practical to take guns off people and put them in the container - so they just can't use them until the container is found). Secondly, on a head count it is discovered you are a man missing. That will be Jay. He was reported disappearing off to the south-west - so he heeds finding and recovering. This will take half of the group, say, well away from the initial Brit concentration, while the rest are on observation and reporting.
Thanks for posting the plan up Guy. All looks fine to me. The only things that spring to mind, for me, are...
1) No way can I get on site for 1600hrs on friday, unfortunately. I don't even finish work until 1700hrs! However, I am happy to come straight from work and, can pick Steve up on my way if he wants. If that's no good, I'll get there early on saturday instead.
2) We have very few "regular army" players, so, would it be worth all of the Brit's staying together to begin with? (something along the lines of regular troops helping to train the local Home Guard?). During the training phase, I could use the "regular troops not just as enemy but, as roving patrols, line laying parties, sentries, etc, while we beast the Home Guard guys.
Given the varying briefs, motives and ammo rules for each faction, is it worth having private sections for them? I agree with David that they're a pain under most circumstances but, given the nature of the event, I feel they would be of benefit in this case. We really need to get it across to people to get in character for this and, build tension and mistrust before the event even starts.
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
On point one - there isn't a great deal to do but it was me who was supposed to be just rolling up and playing yet I've ended up again bringing all the stuff necessary for the game and everyone else is just rolling up.
On point two - that is what is in Guy's plan. However it is imperative that we make sure the army, home guard, FJ and SS have individual identities, game plans and objectives - they hated being instantly lumped together as in Devil's Hill. They have chosen to be one thing or another not a big band of airsofters!
BTW, I can't see the point on allowing the SS to execute Hess, that's just game over. The controversy is whether Hess was sent their with Hitler's approval or it was a freelance attempt backed by others. Therefore one half of the force is trying to remove Hitler from UK to prevent contact with the King and be accountable for his actions at home - and the other half is trying to ensure it's success by removing Hess from British custody as it has all gone wrong (crashing and not making the high level meeting with the Polish General and others) so that a later attempt can be made.
I'd say it is the FJ who think Hess has done this of his own volition (Goering is furious, as not only did he steal a plane, but flew when he had been expressly grounded, AND as Hess managed to get an escort out of German airspace) and the SS that are acting on Hitler's behalf to get Hess back along with the Barbarossa plans that he had brought as a negotiating tool.

Is there really any need to bring one of the massive drop containers? Wouldn't an ammo box suffice?
You've already said you're not bringing your tent and the air raid siren's not that big.
That'd mean you wouldn't need to bring that much stuff.

Hmm, I'm a little concerned that there are 15 home guard and only 4 royal signals.
It is the German one I am bringing which is a square chest so can be filled with kit and not waste too much space. We need to provide something for the Germans and we need to look like we are making the effort - a piddly ammo box would look a bit rubbish, esp when we have a German drop cylinder prop available.
I'll ask Dave B if he would mind bringing his British brown 160lb-er - that would look a lot better than a small German command tent, and will provide some shelter if it is pissing down.
I don't think it is a concern that there are only a few regulars (although it would have been better with more), it fits in with the plan OK (HG had all the action until Hess got to Glasgow anyway) and in any case HG will be in small sections for their duties throughout the day anyway.
all good. Btw i'll bring some hedgehogs and jay all the comms gear so get off the high horse david xx
LOL, I'll just turn up at the next event then!
Again, the 16th has hedgehogs & barbed wire - save making new ones?
Well, my HG bits are on the way to being sorted, badging up for captain. I've turned my attention to the start of the day.
A. Inspection of platoon.
B. Address matters of the day:
1. Inform them of the presence of the AFPU and explain that we have to give a good impression as the country's eyes will be on us. And warn them of what nancy-boys these film and photo johnnys are.
2. Inform them that the local Signals (captain?) will be arranging for some joint training and instruction (and advise that we need to prove that we aren't a bunch of useless old-timers and the weak and the feeble).
3. Give a short lecture on the importance of protection the country against 5th columnists and stray enemy paratroopers. I'll show what a German looks like (eyes to close together etc) and we will cover disguises they might use. Also how to challenge a suspect and procedures following sightings.
Then we will break, one party will erect a tent under the instruction of Pvt Heath, another party will set up telephone comms, the rest will be assembled for training instruction by Cpt Dunn. As the working parties finish they will join the training exercises.
Heh, I've just done a bit poster of Gadge's head to illustrate how to recognise a German: eyes to close together, high forehead, gaunt face & sunken cheeks, cold & brutal eyes, the neck of a thug etc etc
Hope the chaps enjoy that - it can go for target practice later!!
Amending that slightly - its Pete's Signals lot that should be running out the phone lines and setting up comms, so something for them to do while I get the HG into the mood before the exercises.
My BD is badged as a Major (because 2 crowns was cheaper than 6 pips!). I like your ideas here Dave. I was planning on an inspection of the Signals guys and then, along similar lines to what you have for the HG.
I was also planning on playing my regular officer role as an "up from the ranks, "Sharpe" type", who's been in the army since the trenches and, who doesn't really like the HG very much, so will beast them and, generally give them grief to begin with, especially their officer!

Nice, you out rank me, that will jangle a bit - I'll have to try even harder to impress!
Hehe, I think if I just have 20 mins with the HG on my own to 'bond' and set the scene then we can crack on together with the exercises which will give us three quarters of an hour together before Hess crashes. If I send a couple of groups out to investigate (I'll be insisting its a Home Guard matter!) then as soon as we have word back a German plane has crashed (or they bring back Hess) then it will be an Army matter and you take control of all the Brits for the rest of the day, me acting under your command. It will be nice to get a bit of 'friction' from the start!
It will be nice to get a bit of 'friction' from the start!
My thoughts exactly. Reminds me of an episode of Dad's Army! It will also put the Brit's on their toes and forget it's an "airsoft game", to get them more into things.

Dress rehearsal!
Just how big is that cap badge?
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Astonishing isn't it!
(I'll have a shave for the event - might keep a bit of a tashe )
Looks good anyway! I'm pondering getting a pistol lanyard but now, after seeing your picture, I'm also considering some officer boots!

Nice pussy.
