I intended to make my soon-to-arrive Heer EM M36 tunic a model of minimalism, however the lure of the bling is great so instead I've opted to put on the three WWI awards my grandad got. This is where I THINK they should be placed - any advice appreciated:
Imperial EK2 - ribbon in second buttonhole, no gong.
Honour Cross for Combatants (aka Ehrenkreutz, Hindenburg Cross) - ribbon bar above left breast pocket, no gong.
Imperial Black Wound Badge - centre of left breast pocket.
He would have been 41 in 1939, so at least I'll be age accurate.
I also have a tiny little stick pin with miniatures of these three awards on them (about 7mm x 25mm). Presumably this would have been for civilian wear rather than uniform wear?
My old M36 tunic has all of the insignia you describe on it. Use this picture for a reference.
If there is no EK1, you would wear the wound badge in the middle, as you said.

Thanks Pete.
So if the EK1 wasn't there, would the wound badge take its place or is lower left the standard position for a wound badge? Also I'm guessing it would be a 1918 version rather than a 1939 one. Last thing, is your Honour Cross ribbon on a bar or stitched to the tunic?
I stitched mine to the tunic, as I was replicating Ed Harris' costume in Enemy at the Gate. Strictly speaking, it should be on a bar. I still have some ribbon if you need it. The wound badge goes in the middle in the absence of the EK1. By the way, SOF do a silver WW1 wound badge for £6.99. A blast of black paint and, hey presto!

Nice. Militaria net do the badges in black and Nick Morigi claims to have an original ribbon on a bar. If he's sold it I'll take you up on the ribbon offer.
