I'm wanting to do a Heer junior officer loadout and from reading a few threads I think I'll opt for a Hikishop tunic off ebay. However, and here is the question.. Do I go for the officer M36 tunic or the EM M36 tunic? As they are about the same price it's soley down to authentisity of what an officer especially a junior officer would actually wear in the field.. I have read threads which say many officers prefered the EM version and other threads saying if you were an officer you would want to look like one..
What are your views and advice
Regards Chris.

The use of EM tunics was permitted and later encouraged for combat use. I think there is a photo of Rommel in one, time to go hunting...
Some were simple re-badge jobs, others added french cuffs and had other tailoring done.
I have an Infantry M40 badged as officer. The better quality insignia do stand out.
You dont see many tricot or gaberdine tunics worn on the front lines. Like today, do you wear your best clothes for gardening?
Up to rank of captain and in combat I'd go with EM tunic.

Thanks Poacher.. Thats what I was leaning towards as the EM tunic also has the intergral belt hooks. If the S*%t hit the fan, officers would then be able to carry full pack in the field too..
As always thanks for your input..
Kind regards Chris.

A couple of threads already on here on this subject and that afore mentioned Rommel pic!

As Poacher says, Junior front line officer up to Hauptman = EM tunic. Senior,Rear Echelon, walking out, or Drink und Bling = Gabadine officer tunic.

Thanks for the reply.. On a different note does anyone know a good place to buy a reasonably price officer chest eagle?? I've just bought an EM tunic, belt, collar and shoulder ensignia from Hikishop but they didn't have any chest eagles..

Hikis insignia tend to be a bit dubious, let us know what these are like.
Officer class badges tend to be expensive because of the materials used and the time taken to make them.
£8 seems to be the going rate from Morigi or Epic.

Thanks for that.. I will let you know what the Hikis insignia is like when it arrives.. I must point out though that unless it is obviously bad, I wouldn't know, having no previous experience of good items to compare them with.
Regards Chris.

Regarding hiki shop insignia, Collar tabs seem ok but not to impressed with the shoulder boards, they don't seem to be finished off and the end of the braid is starting to un-ravel.. Pleased with the Tunic quality but am having to return it for a size larger as its a bit snug under the arms..
