Thanks I will check those sites out. You do see a great mix of uniforms and insignia though and it is not totally out of the ordinary to see M36 jackets in mid-late war photos so I might stick with what I have for a little while at least :)

Absolutely - old stock was still issued and recycled in mid-late war.

You just missed In The Pocket - yesterday. Next advertised game is Carentan, run by Gunman - some people are going to that. There may also be another CiA game coming up soon.

You could try organising a meetup on an open day somewhere...

I'd like to affiliate myself with Landser as I'm Heer loadout, although loyal to 27th panzers first.
Any news on 2009 calendar yet?
Cheers Jimbo

Hi I am joining the heer for operation mist and just wanted to ask a question here so I am not cluttering up other threads .
Is it possible to shrink fit an M43 ski cap ,I thought it might be as it is wool .
Mine is slightly too big and I can wear other things underneath which was my plan anyway however I thought I would ask the question as you are the people who must know. Cheers see you at mist.

You can shrink an M43 cap, the method is the same as for shrinking/shaping a beret.

All you need is to get some hot water and soak the cap in it (not the peak though!), then, wring it out and place it on your head. This is the perfect time to get the "pinch" into it as well. Once you're happy with the shape, leave it to dry in the airing cupboard (or on a heater if you want a bit of extra shrinkage). You can repeat this process until you're happy with it.

Apparently, German soldiers didn't hold the peak to remove their caps, they grasped the cap by the crown (where the eagle is sewn on) and this is what gave their caps the characteristic "pinched" look.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

Of course. Feel free to post some pics up of your uniform - it's not one that I know much about. :good:

'Twas quicker to do it for you than explain! Have a look in your User Control Panel (top right of screen) to investigate further...

Jay, my preferred supplier is Pirschen, because I like the cut of his tunics. Most other (affordable) outlets are selling Sturm - some think they have better quality wool - don't know myself.

I am assuming that GD PzGrens wore the usual tunic, as opposed to the "Panzer wrap" - somebody would need to verify that.

Insignia - GD cuff title (there are a few versions to choose from - sorry I can't remember which would be most typical), green Waffenfarbe on the s/boards - this is lighter green than Gebirgsjäger.
